I believe one of Hasbro's final decisions was to move MGE and ToT to battlenet.
Not a smart move...
In fact I think Apolyton is one of the few remaining places to find a quick game of Civ2.

We can still play on the zone. It is no longer officially supported, but as far as day to day use goes, that really has no effect whatsoever (besided the annoying screen that you have to go to first that informs you of this).

Microsoft Zone - CIV II MGE No Longer Supported
I'm in shock.
I do not play CIV II MGE like I used to but once in a while I play a game for a few hours (if it lasts that long). I went into the Zone today for CIV II MGE - and almost fell off my chair "this game is no longer officially supported on the zone"
I tried to go to the Hasbro site it bounces me to another site: http://play.games.com/playgames /cdrom_lobby_list.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=110575&FO LDER%3C%3Efolder_id=111347&bmUID=985540192599&chan nelURL=true
It doesn't seem like HASBRO, MICROPROSE or INFOGAMES support CIV II anymore. Now maybe this is old news but I was surprised not to find a recent forum thread on this.

The zone is little more than a chat room anyway. A chatroom full of mostly morons. I won't be shedding any tears.

Come guys... as much as we always enjoy taking our cheap shots at the zone, at least it is a place to go to find a quick "game" (liberal definition) I still recommend it to people who are just learning and looking for an MP experience.
It would be a loss to the Civ community if it wasn't available for people to set up quick games.

the zone has other uses too...
I started by playing in the zone and eventually found these forums. Now I can associate with a much higher class of civers (in terms of skill)

In other words, zone is to civ as public toilet is to gay.
