Thanks!
BTW, any hints on what you're already adding would be most appreciated.

Brian Renolds also replied in the borders question raised by Hofblad. The thread is in the previous location for Civ 3 ideas, not in "The List of Ideas for Firaxis" where we currently are.

My guess is Civ3 will have borders, but their extent and effect will vary with your government type and technological progress. Clearly a Bronze Age city state would resolve borders in a different way from a modern nation state, and you'll see an evolution from one to the other in the game.
In SMAC we found that borders not only made the game more fun, they made the AI smarter.
As with Alpha Centauri, you'll probably be able to reduce the effect of borders by editing the rules file, if for some reason (?!?!) you don't like them.

 -=*MOVING THREAD UP*=-
By the way, Brian has been on vacation, so I haven't been able to get any feedback from him on the list. However, he IS expecting to read this list by the end of this month (June), so hopefully he'll be back in 'answering e-mail' mode by then.
My hope, of course, is that he can set at least some parameters for us. But Firaxis will most likely keep things wide open until at least the alpha phase, at which point hopefully we can start zeroing in on details with enough time to make crucial changes.

Actually that was yet another attempt to raise everybody's self-esteem by -=HEAVE=-ing this month-old complement to the top.

I would like to say how great I think this list is and even if only a small percentage of the ideas suggested by us are used, It will make significant changes to the game that will make CIVIII even more legendary then CIV and CIVII. A great idea allowing the people to help design the sequel to their favorite game of all time!!!

Here's the proof that Brian asked us to do this. Why does Firaxis suddenly start to do that weird ?

CyberShy,
You are right that the list started here, and the status of the project on the Firaxis site is still unknown, at least until Dan decides what to do.
But no matter what, the Apolyton site has a lot more visitors and should thus continue to take the lead on this project. If an when the Firaxis site also produces a list, the two sites will combine ideas into one list.
So, there is no competition here...we'll just have to see what happens with the Firaxis site.
