MEMORANDUM

To: Chancellor Berzerker, Republic of Germania
From: Fuehrer Napoleon Hitler VI, Austrian National Socialist Reich

As Teutonic nations, Greater Austria and Greater Germany have shared a long history of cooperation against the inferior races of the world. By now you will have heard the mohametans' proposal for an alliance with Germany based on usury and ill-gotten gain. While you and I both know that such an alliance is impossible, I thought I would reassure you that, now that the Two Hundred Years' War has been successfully prosecuted, Austria shall commence extensive trading expeditions from all 30-plus regions of the Reich. Moreoever, our technology tradings and transfers that have been so beneficial in the past will continue. Despite the, ah, unpleasant uncertainties that have been manifesting themselves in certain regions of our Empire, I assure you on the blood of my forefathers that our alliance shall continue to mutual enrichment.

Signed,

Napoleon Franz Hitler

The Turkish trade minister, on a special visit to Germany came across a recent communiqué from the Austrians to the Germans. Bringing up the matter before a special meeting with the German president, the 2 reeled in laughter. What does 2000 years of Austrian exploitation of Germany mean in the face of $15,000 gold. Not to mention $2000 gold for a NON demand good caravans to turkey from Germany. The Austrians are in a fundy government, and lack the infrastructure or the knowledge to build a trade empire. Not to mention all our trade routes will be +40 where as Austrian routes will be +10 at Most. The Turkish government recommends that the Germans tell the Austrians to go back home and play with their toys and come back when they have something to offer.

The turkish government does not think a half implimented hyper growth strat will impress upon the world the power of our empire, and the need to ban trade between civs.

The new trade minister spent the day in germany dilivering a proposal to the german president. We will pay the german government $15,000 gold to break off all relations with the russian and german empires and enter into a enternal trade agreement and allaince with us. We guarentee the german government a minimum of +25 trade routes, with some trade routes reaching + 60 in thier cities. We also suspect that some caravans will reach up to $8,000 gold per trip. We also offer an alternitive to the $15,000 gold. We will be willing to pay 50% of the caravan cash bonus up to $1000. So if i get $4,000 cash you only get $1,000.

I'm temporarily out of action for about a week. Thieves are stealing our large landscaping rocks and I need to spend the next few nights trying to catch these chumps. My nights will be spent outside with a shotgun till the wee hours of the morning I'm hoping they show up again within a week so this matter is over with

BANG BANG!

Git off Ma Land!!

The ghost of Louis XIV wishes his rule was not cut so short by the terrible sickness in his loins: that horrible disease of I think it is Italian origin.

One hopes that the French state is adequately safeguarded from the howling fanatics of fundamentalist zeal. Beware, Western Europe, of aerian plots to break your divine alliance. Maintain your resolve, friends, do not allow those from the east to make you break ranks, else all be lost.

I speak from beyond the realm of the living, and therefore have seen one of several possible futures. I saw a prime-minister of Britain following a mislead policy of "appeasement." This policy would have disastrous effects for all Western nations. Therefore a path of vigilance and military readiness should be taken. Do not get caught up in the security of economic matters over those of defence.

Tread carefully my friends, dangerous times await you. Viva France!!

Sad news looms over the vast land of the Russ and especially over Crusthavn (anciently known as Mosqua)

Evil economic saboteurs have undermined the free time status in the Empire, threatening the regular responsibilities of Crusty the Rusky to this game on Wed eves.

Yes work has changed!! I can not play tonight as my schedule got changed from afternoon to evening. It may be that I can no longer commit to wed eves!! This was the last evening bastion of Civ time left to the people of Crusthavn, only a few islands of civ on Sunday mornings, and via PBEM remain!

Again, I can not play tonight, and will know likely tonight if I can not commit to wed eves for awhile. If it is decided to use a sub for me tonigt I would understand. This sub may need to be permanent, but i will know later on my new sheduals outlook.

I can play, but it looks like Crusty can't make it. I suggest we wait for Crusty to see if he can find an open slot during the week.

I'm sorry my turns seem to be taking so long but a combo of lag and a huge number of units (with a few intricate manouvers when you include freight) has slowed me. I'm not even inc rush buying but waiting for lotsa freight to move.
I promise I will stop some of this in the next session.

Markus kindly sent me the last save after I lost connection half way thru my turn today, but it's no good.
We have to go back to the auto save at the beginning of the last turn but I promise I will do it quick and am happy for a 15 min timer from here on

Queen Boudicca is pleased to see that peace has prevailed in the East.

Britain remains vigilant and is capable of delivering military support to aid the oppressed anywhere in Europe, very quickly.
Our military strength is ginormous. QB hopes that it will not be needed, however and looks forward to disbanding her armies in the modern era.

Much trading continued with the Italians and Russians and it is believed the Turks now welcome QB's trade with open arms....
Special trading plans are being considered with Turkey once the airport facilty is available.

A 15-minute timer sounds good to me. We really need to do better than we did last time. That may mean waiting to do negotiations till next turn if you're having problems, or not moving purely exploratory units. If Markus hosts from now on, hopefully lag won't be as great.

Franz Josef returned from exile with a ragtag band of volunteers in AD 1121, storming the Reichspalaz and assassinating Fuehrer Napoleon Hitler VII. The Fascist Reich was dissolved, and a new Confederation of Austria, Hungary, and Yugoslavia was formed, representing the three main nationalities of the civilization. Indigenous languages were again permitted, though for the moment South German (or Austrian) retained sole official status throughout the Confederacy. The eastern provinces, in the areas of Austrian Ukraine and Austrian Rumania, did not have full associate status in the Confederacy and were considered dependent colonies. In many of these regions, such as Vinnytsya, Austriophone settler populations were the plurality. The North African colonies were, of course, also accorded dependent status. Franz Josef was elected Prime Minister in the first free elections in Austria-Hungary-Yugoslavia on the basis of universal suffrage, in 1126. Subsequently, toleration was extended to Roman Catholics and Protestants (Austria had always been an Eastern Orthodox country, unlike Germany to the north, since it had never fallen under Roman influence). Catholics were especially numerous in Tirol and Slovenia, while Protestants were mostly clustered in Bohemia and Silesia. Toleration of Islam was considered but rejected as too radical.
