Habsburg Royal Palace, around dinner time...

King Ferdinand: All of this talk, it is frustratingly dull!

Cosimo D'Medici: Yes 'tis sire, I am quite shocked myself. You know the Asians have established a very strong alliance, word comes from the Zulu that it has even made a land claim of nearly all of the Americas.

Vittoria: Speaking of which how is Leopold? Is he well?

Ferdinand: I have heard nothing of Leopold, I assume so...

Cosimo: He's a strapping lad, he'll be perfectly fine. He braved the harsh asian deserts, through Mongolia, Israel, Mali and the Zulu Nation. He'll be fine, he's got Habsburg blood, its strong.

Ferdinand: Yes it is (he smiles and looks at Vittoria, she smiles back) Well, regardless it should be fine the- (he is interrupted)

Page: Sire, I apologize for intruding upon your mealtime, but this is of the utmost importance! A message from Leopold and the Zulus sire! (he hands a scroll to a servant takes it and hands it to the king, who stands up and reads it)

Cosimo: What does it say Ferdinand?

Ferdinand: My god, Giovanni, please give these scraps to the servants.

Giovanni: But sire, there is a whole meal he-

Ferdinand: Don't ever say but to me again! When I give you an order you obey, now take the food to the cooking chambers at once! (the servant leaves alongside the page)

Cosimo: My lord?

Ferdinand: Vittoria please leave... (she slowly exits, looking at her brother Cosimo with a worried look)

Cosimo: My lord?

Ferdinand: It is this map, this is America look at it. (he hands it to Cosimo) See that, right there in the middle?

Cosimo: Are you sure the landmasses are shaped correctly, there is no way Europe is this small compared to-

Ferdinand: Its right Cosimo, god damn it! What will we do?

Cosimo: I have no idea, I am no politician...

Ferdinand: We do not need a politician Cosimo, we need a leader.

Cosimo: My lord, I have heard legends the Aus-

Ferdinand: Call upon Garibaldi, I want a House of Regents meeting as soon as is possible.

Cosimo: That could take weeks sire, I shall send the word. (He exits)

King Ferdinand looked out of his palace window, staring accross the Adriatic Sea, he pulled out his sword and looked over it, for centuries it had been passed down through the ages of Habsburgs... it was so clean and shiney, so perfect... and it was all going to change...

A letter arrives in the newly established Australian town in the new world..........

Consul Keating,

As long as you retract your plans to cut into eastern S. America, there will be peace. Shakeem welcomed your countries entry into a continent that could have very easily been "claimed" in entirety by the Zulu Nation. We even tolerate the city that you so boldly placed not far south from an established Zulu city. We can be peaceful neighbors. That is what the Zulus want. Whether we will be or not will be determined by decisions you make in the near future. I know you to be a wise man Consul. Your empire is one of legends. We trust you will make the wise choice.

Consul Shakeem
<img src="/images/blue1.gif" width=100% height=1></font></td></tr></table></center>

Paul now realises the unfortunate nature of this mis-understanding.

The map now shows Shakeem's understanding of the originally verbally agreed border.
The Australian envoy in South America has been asked to attend a 'holiday' conference in Tahiti - permanently
However, Paul has sent a message appealing to the Zulu's sense of fair play and asks that the land in question be requested for Aussie settlement, perhaps in return for gold?

(BTW as an aside Civ 3 will have a bargaining table - can't wait!)

Okay last night was a pretty crappy night for this game.

I almost couldn't play, which in turn riled everyone up but when it turned out I could in fact play there was another situation, and everyone who was there and the one other guy obviously knows what the situation was.

I don't know what the situation was, and frankly I don't think it matters. If it is something you knew about at least hours in advance you could have been online in order to tell us you wouldn't have made it, if it was a spur of the moment situation we will understand.

But the thing is, Civilization is a game of waiting, especially in a game this intense where the waiting is much more unbearable. With the amount of players the wait between turns is longer, and again with the situations and issues in the game they seem more unbearable. So when they are asked to wait for a long time, which turns out to be all for naught because the one they were waiting for didn't show, it becomes very agitating.

I am quite positive all seven of us want to see the finish of the game, we have just hit the A.D. ages, we are making progress and the politics in this game are superb. What we have to do now is make sure we are all on the same page. If anyone has grievences about anything at all in this game, ANYTHING we should take this next week to make them known. This is another setback, we've had a lot in this game, with a normal group the game would have been over.

But we've got a special group here, we've got seven different types of players from four different countries, we've got a nice spread here. So far we've survived three situations, this will make four. So let's try to make this game work instaed of ruin it with secret issues, I think we should all ***** about whatever right now and get it out of our systems.

Thanks a lot.

Peace.

Without getting into details with anyone about anything or any games, i would like to apologize to this group of individuals........ its been a rough week for the most part and things have come up planned and unplanned.

Unfortunately one cannot always be considerate of his mates and this happened to be one of those occassions...... i missed civ dates with almost everyone this week and really havn't been online much at all......

Things are winding down for me and i feel that starting this next week , i will be in a better position to honor my commitments....

if this is innapropriate for anyone..... feel free to let me know and find yourselves a sub for the game on a permanent level.

Its hard to be understanding when you don't know the situations.... but i am afraid that is all i can discuss at the moment.

I can now commit to the origionally schedualed HOTW game thursdays from 5 pm - 8 pm my time.

cheers and thanks in advance.

The following message arrives at the various palaces of Mongolia, China, and Australia....

Dear Sirs...

Through the Zulu embassy it has come to our attention that a member of your alliance, which we refer to as the Pacific Pact (please inform us if this moniker is incorrect), has made quite the land claim in North America, and since "situations" have deterred us from "playing" I think the time we now have to discuss this issue will suffice for some type of end result here. I believe I speak for the Mali as well when I say that land is tight in North America, and we feel that the Australians may have overstepped their realistic bounds in making this claim.

I have many issues to bring to a head as concerns this land claim as well as treaty and alliance in general. There have been past agreements made to me by nations in Asia that, if this claim comes to fruition, will have been discarded. Which I believe is unfair to me. Therefore I would like to personally, as King of the Adriatic League, ask that the sovreign nations of China, Mongolia and Australia hold an ICQ audience with me so that I may display my grievences/issues with this land claim. Thus, I ask that the Pacific Pact at least hear me out. We may hold the meeting in any Asian city that is required, I will send only one ambassador, Antonio DeNucci from Naples to attend the meeting, and he shall only represent the interests of his most Catholic majesty, King Ferdinand I of Habsburg.

Thank you for your time,
Leopold of Habsburg.

END MESSAGE.

A message from his most Catholic Majesty; Ferdinand I of Habsburg...

In response to the map and corresponding claims posted I say this: First I continue to disregard any claims made by Australia to any land in the Americas, and obviously I disregard any claim made BY Australia FOR another nation. To think I would accept a land claim made by Australia in the name of the Mali is ridiculous, or a land claim made by China in the name of Israel for example.

Further I disregard any land claims that are made at all. If I am in a position to respect a specific claim I myself will do so. For instance of the Zulu wish to hold all of South America within their realm, they shall not only ask Australia to agree to this claim, but every nation, as every nation is sovreign the will of one should not be projected upon the consent of another. If any mapping out of the New World shall occur, as has been done in the leisure time of the honorable Consul Keating, a congress should be established of all nations in the world to establish such a map. I hardly believe it is the will of every nation on the planet for Australia to carve up the New World in such a manner.

Further, I do respect the honorable portions of his designs. I.E. the land grant towards China, it is quite an honorable tact. However, though I do see the plight of China as a horrible one, I don't think it gives Australia any more right than it does say the Mali, Israelites or the Adriatic League to carve up a fast claim in the name of China. The original map created by Australia which did lineate the land claim of only the Australian Republic was acceptable if only for suggestive purposes. As I have said before, for Australia to think it could simply claim whatever land it wished and expect every nation on the planet to agree to it without problems was quite ridiculous. Possibly Australia's nation, which is an Isle unto itself with no foreign aggressors or any chance of them without a vast naval force, has given Australia some false impressions as far as international politics goes?

In reality if a stunt of this nature was pulled in volatile Africa, or even more volatile central Asia, a war or advanced aggression would have been the result. I believe with every fiber of my being that Australia is attempting to further its own Alliance, which (as far as Adriatic intelligence currently is aware) consists of the nations of Mongolia, China and Australia. They are attempting to do this at the sacrifice of the power of the Adriatic States, the Mali, the Israelites, and the Zulu Nation. For any nation to simply draw out borders in two continents that they have no full control over is ridiculous. The Australians have CLEARLY forgotten the states of Israel and the Adriatic League when creating these land grants, I believe it is unfair for this to occur.

I believe I speak for the Mediterranean Pact when I denounce these land claims/grants, however the Wise Dimbleby of Israel is free to offer his own opinion into these matters. Before anything further officially occurs, I believe that a summitt of all nations is in order, I would like to discover the opinions of China and Mongolia (who are mysteriously silent) and the opinions of the Mali, the Zulu and my ally Israel before I agree to any sort of land claims or grants by any nation whatsoever.

In closing I would like to say that I am the King of a sovreign nation. The Adriatic League, I am quite sure my sentiment is shared with every leader on this planet when I say that I am dead-set against any nation taking advantage of me or my people. I am fully prepared to fight any nation that would purposely slight my people, and would take advantage of them in any adverse way. If for any leader among us this does not ring true I doubt your abilities and credulance as a leader. However if you are aware that these are qualities of all good leaders, than you will understand my points and my arguments, and you will entertain an international meeting on this subject. CLEARLY this situation could lead to a world war, and that is something that I want to avoid.

-Ferdinand of Habsburg.

I find it odd that the Aussie et al are making land claims in North America, when the Zulus and the Adriatic are the only ones who actually have units in North America. Claiming land is all fine and dandy, but it's pointless someone else settles it before you have the tech and units to get there.

Israel herby claims all of North America, even though we have no tiremes and have not discover navigation yet.

A message from the Special Committee on New China Affairs:

SOUTH AMERICA

It is the opinion of this committee appointed by the Great Republic of China that there is no need for Chinese interference in this area of the world, the Great Republic of Australia and the Great Republic of the Zulu’s have reached an agreement on the division of the land in South America and each are believed to be in a position to enforce there claims there. As it is believed that no other power has a position in the territory of South America. This Committee endorsees with the will of the Senate the land agreement reached between the Zulu’s and the Australians is now recognized by the Republic of China and will respect the territories claimed by the Republic of Australia and the Zulu Republic in the sphere of South America.

OTHER LANDS

It is the opinion of this Committee that while each country could expand as fast as it could into the New World that it would eventually lead to War as the Adriatic Emperor pointed out. And that while the Australian Map is a start in the guide to peacefully there are some changes that need to be made. As the Emperor of the Adriatic’s pointed out neither they nor the Israeli people were on the Map. However the Israeli government is wrong when they say “the Zulus and the Adriatic are the only ones who actually have units in North America” Both the Chinese Government and the Mongols have forces and even cities in North America and our reading of Foreign Newspapers indicates that the Mali are also present.

THE CHINESE PROPOSAL

Now we are not saying that this Proposal is set in stone, obviously the Mali and the Adriatic’s need to discuss there division of there territory and I am sure each government has its complaints but this process will only be completed if each and every country tells the others it’s territorial ambitions. The Chinese are happy with the amount of land granted to them by the Australian proposal.

China only asks that all other countries recognize the Chinese Claim.

Paul wishes to point out that Australia only presented the 'proposal' as a 'suggestion' for discussion.

Why is there all this talk of war and fighting?

Diplomats who speak in this way reveal what is foremost in their minds.

Australia is in a position to very quickly settle the land it has proposed as Aussie colonies. So, rather than just going ahead with it, Paul mapped out the plan for all the world to see and discuss. We are not just blandly claiming something but clearly stating our plans to avoid conflict!

Although praising of the Chinese proposal, America can not just be carved up on the basis of a fair and even divide for all nations on Earth, yet ignoring the original starts for all civs - which was clearly not a fair and even distribution of good land and resources.

Firstly, America can only be settled by those with the means;
and secondly by those with the greatest need, taking into account the above argument of eneven starts.

Paul will discuss the situation with his allies ASAP and is delighted to discuss all these matters with those nations the Aussies have made contact with (bearing in mind we have Marco's)

----

PS Deity thinks it's absurd to widen this out from the realism of the game by just including all of us in an icq hook up! I told Capo I'd do that but it's not realistic in terms of game play.
I suggest Aussies can have a hook up with those civs we have made contact with, ie Mongols, Chinese, Mali and Zulus.
As we make contact in the game we can dvelop the dialog.

We can't just have a once and for all icq hook up that settles the American issue. Tensions must linger.....

Please check the up-todate political map. Mongol, China and Mali are the Nations that have settled in NA. Mogol and China both reached the west side. mali is the only nation that settled at East side of NA. While Adriatic will be able to settle soon according to their news press.

My intentions are not to start a war but to prevent a war, Mongolia has on numerous occasions said that it was close to war with Israel, I know for a fact a military sitaution exists in Egypt, and I am quite sure that everyone is aware that there was nearly a clash in Tunisia.

For anyone, even the most peaceloving nations on the planet (which include the Adriatic League, despite popular opinion), to think that there is no chance of war is absurd. In a situation this volatile, there is a very real chance that tensions will flare up and a war may be the result. Therefore I will admit that I find it insulting that the Australians continue to use my statements that war could loom as aggressive, especially in light of their recent activities.

However despite this the Adriatic League has considered many factors, and has decided upon a set of land grants. I have no doubt in my mind that these will be declined, however I must stress the NEED for an international resolution to this mater. If we simply allow the strong at this point and time to thrive, the strong of the future will take offense, and again a war would result. I'm sorry if I ruin your perfect view of the world Austrlia, but war is inevitable, but it is delayable...

Anyway here is the map that the Adriatic House of Regents has decided upon, we believe that the land masses are fair sized, and have taken into consideration the plight of the Chinese....
<center>

</center>

This is the idea of the Americas the Adriatic League has, I understand that there will be issues with this map amongst other nations, this is NOT the imperialistic goals of the Adriatic League and we will continue to follow our actual imperial goals which are not what we have on this map, however this is what we think would be a good and fair split in the Americas.

Ok, here is Mali proposal. It's not a map divided by yellow lines. Rather, it's some principles. When we talk about land dividing, there are 3 basic factors: willing, ability, needs. Which are willing to explore, ability to settle, and needs for new land.

Most of us agree that China can have the biggest share in American, because she has the willing, and the ability, which proved by his city in NA, PLUS the needs of land after long time of ruling under AI.

Zulu have had a big share of SA, and we'll respect it, because it had the ability to do so by building Lighthouse and maybe the first settled at American, and had the most cities so far.

Aussie and Mali both are nations settled on pathetic desert, therefore both in great need of new land to settle. According to the way Africa is divided, Mali has more need for better land. Both of two nations showed the willing and ability to achieve so.

Both Mongolia and Adriatic have the ability and willing to settle in American. But as deity pointed out, and refer to the political map, both of them having a lot of good/unsettled land in north Europe and north Asia. Therefore they are in lest need of new land.

Israelite also in need of new land, but seems they don't have the willing to bother with the America, which I believe is wise. Because there is still unsettled free space in middle asia, and the new world is too far from their original land.

Therefore here is Mali proposal:

1. We respect the request of Zulu's right at east coastal of SA.

2. We agree that China can get the biggest portion of NA, which could be arround 1/3 of NA, provided that they can settle/protect on their assigned land within a reasonable time.

3. Mali want to get the 2nd largest land of NA, which is about 1/4 of NA. As a nation which is the closest to SA, before any agreement is made, Mali reserve its right to settle in SA.

4. We respect the Aussie's right at west coastal of SA. We suggest that Aussie should give up the land claim in NA, at least Florida, and the islands east of Latin America.

5. Mongolia and Adriatic may get similar share of NA, since they are almost equal in willing/ability/needs.

6. Although Israelite did not make the effort to land in America, it still may get a small portion of land, if they request. Which I believe the best use of the assigned land is to trade it with other nations to get a land in Asia/Europe/Africa, which is closer to its original land.

NA = North American + north part of Lation AMerican + the island north of SA, and east of Latin America.

LOVE and Peace

Based on the most excellent and totally rational Mali suggestions Paul has adjusted his boundaries and refined the rest of the map...

If the Israelis do not take up their islands they should really go to the Mali.

Okay, since Australia has shot down any chance of an international summitt, I am going to go out of my way to make some comments here.

1) Australia in my opinion has NO RIGHT to more land than any nation on this planet. They are the most populous, most productive, and most successful nation on this globe. If their case is that they are on a desert continent, and are unable to cope with that, then I must disagree. They have ascended to the highest point on the planet on this desert island, they have achieved the largest population and quite possibly the most tax income based on their government and this population. They have signed into and head up the strongest alliance thus far forged on this planet. They have been born onto an island with no natural enemies at all, and the only nation that could ever dream of toppling this empire must build a vast navy, and to do that as well as establish the ground forces capable of damaging them would be impossible. The Adriatic League does not buy their sob story, only to say that they have shown they can do a lot with what they deem a little, and for that we respect them. But to give them more based solely on the potential for weakness is not a very legitimate claim in our opinion.

2) Australia further claims that the nation of China is in need of the BIGGEST land grant in the Americas based on their current status. Again I must disagree with the Austrlians. The tale of the current status of China is a tale of greed and vassalage, and if the Chinese are free of Australian and Mongolian eyes I am sure they will relate a similar tale as this one; over four thousand years ago a mysterious ruler only known as AI ruled the Chinese people, he was a weak minded individual that was quickly frightened into submission by the Khan of the Mongols, War4Ever. China was then thrust into a dark sea of servitude to their Mongolian masters, even forced into an alliance that would make them the slave of the Mongolian empire, which is the largest on the planet. Whether it was the intent of Mongolia for China to succumb to their whip is irrelevent, it did in fact occur, and China was basically a tribute state to Monolia. A leader named Prometheus became the new Emperor of China and brought with him sweeping reforms. The size of the empire was more than doubled, and a new Republic was established to cater to the whims of the citizens rather than an all encompassing overlord, it seemed that China may slip out of its shackles, that was until the Pacific Pact came along. Soon the tributary masters of China went from one in Karakorum, to another in Canberra. They were quickly pushed to the bottom and suffocated by the girth of the empires of Mongolia and Australia. Now, four thousand years after the begining of this tale the two nations that have sucked China in are now asking the rest of us to sacrifice for their greed. They want the nations of the west (Mali, Israel, Zulu and the AL) to agree that China should get a HUGE land grant in Asia while most of us are given minor scraps. And why is this? Because China is so weak and pathetic, and why is this? Becuase Mongolia wants more land! Before the Adriatic League can even entertain a giant Chinese land grant, we would first like to know how the actual ALLIES (no less the ones who caused China's terrible plight in the first place) will help their friends. We suggest other western nations follow suit and question the motives here. Is it hard to imagine Mongolia owning more of this claim than China? It has happened before... well maybe not Mongolia... perhaps its Australia's turn to rape China?

3) The third and final point is a simple and easy one to see. Why is it that the Asian Alliance is getting FAR MORE land than the Mediterranean Pact is in the New World? According to the latest map from the Australians the Adriatic League would only get southern florida and western Labrador (as well as Newfoundland) while the Israelies get a collection of Islands in the Caribbean? Further Australia warns Israel to take the Islands or suffer their loss to the Mali. I believe this, among other things, proves the Australians and their allies are attempting to slight the only other alliance on the planet and that is the Mediterranean Pact.

It is quite clear what we are dealing with here, if we in the west could just uncover our eyes, and ignore our petty quarrels that have plagued the west since 4000 b.c., if we could just ignore the stupid quarrels over small tracts of land and see the bigger picture we would realize that we are getting the carpet pulled from under our feet by the East. It won't be too long before we ACTUALLY can relate to the Chinese plight, and I've spoken with Prometheus, it is not a good way to be...

The Mongolian Minits : Vol 1

Mongolia may have bullied the Chinese nation led by the deceptive and treacherous AI, but who wouldn't. New Chinese leadership has been granted by our people into leading China out of the dark ages. With land grants in Asia and more technology gifted by us than any other nation, we have repayed China from years of dictatorial rule.

We as allies of both Australia and China respect the land claims of both sovereign nations. However, we will not engage in political ventures which do not concern us.

Mongolia will protect her own borders and those of nations we deem to be under duress from outside influences. At this time , Mongolia requests that all nations carve up the new world accordingly. First come First served. Land deals can always be neogotiated later along with real boarders. We believe it is futile to make claims on land which isn't under the immediate control of a nation. Settle the land, make improvements later.

Perhaps when the clouds of war descend upon us all, some nations will have land to bargain with, while other nations may acquire gifts by force or by suing for peace.

One last word.... Mongolia will not be aggressors unless provoke by another nation! However if attacked, we will fight until our land is either reclaimed or an equivilent remedy has pacified our thirst for revenge. I suggest all nations rethink their gluttony and agree to cooperate before war sweeps across the americas!

How about the first person to the land gets the land. Hs the america's even been explored by most of you? If you haven't even set a land unit in the america's then you don't have any claims. Just start building cities where you want. The only nation i see that has respectable claims is the Zulu Nation. SunTzu has spoken.....that is all.

Friends of Marco Polo have reported to Paul Keating that the Adriatic League would be quite happy with a nominal presence only in the Americas, given their immensely good homelands. (Such reports are very reliable - transcriptions of which may be made available upon request)

It was with this in mind that Paul asked for the new boundaries to be drawn up accordingly. Otherwise the rather similar Mali proposal may be preferred...

Sure, Paul has had no problem with this all along. He just thought it would be courteous to other nations to flag the Aussies intent to settle in the suggested territories.... But it seems it caused more trouble than it was worth. The Zulu have just quietly settled and claimed more than half of South Amewrica. No one said anything. The Aussies were only a few years behind the Zulus in settling the Western third of South America with two cities already and 4 more very shortly. So rather than creating international dialog we'll just go ahead and settle..... if that is what the consensus of world opinion is.

Yes Capo, Paul too has discussed the situation with the great nation of China. Not only are we championing their cause in acquiring vast lands in the new world but we have discussed the possibility of the Aussies very soon ceding cities to China. Prometheus will confirm this.
And China's other great ally, War4ever of the Mongols, has provided China with a huge number of techs.
The Aussies and Mongols are truly great allies of China and will see no harm comes to her.
Cease this trouble-making lest you fall on your own sword...

Yet another Australian threat directed towards the Adriatic League.

My simple point was, if you want a Chinese land grant you would have it cleared up with each nation. I don't feel it is proper that they get land in America for the SOLE REASON that their allies the Mongols decided to bully them around. A few techs and money is no restitution for the plight of the Chinese people, everyone knows that. So land is in order, but instead of making true amends by giving them land that was taken from under them, their allies want to force land to them that they have no rights to. I have said, time and time again, that I support a Chinese land grant in the New World, that I support the idea that the Chinese should recieve land for their horrible history with Mongolia, however I don't think it should be forced upon me or any other nation, especially by an alliance who has, time and time again, threatened me and my ally Israel and continues to do so to this day.

YOU DON'T OWN THE NEW WORLD AUSTRALIA.

Neither does the Adriatic League or anyone for that matter, portions and tracts are under control of various nations, and treaties have been agreed upon (Zulu-Australian for example) however I doubt any nation could now or ever make a serious case that they own the New World. The part of the discussion I am complaining about is the fact that everytime a new map is drawn up by a member of the Asian Alliance it mysteriously disincludes, or slights the members of the Mediterranean Pact. If you deny this blatant truth you are lying to yourself, it is clear. That is my problem, and when one of our nations takes offense, and makes a comment towards that occurance, we are met with threats and more threats by the nations within the Asian Alliance. This is what I am complaining about, we are called aggressors, and we are called imperialists, however we have wishes for the entire planet to sit down peacefully and decide upon a compramise.

That is my issue here, no offense to my Chinese friends, but the Mediterranean Pact is no China. We will not be bullied for four thousand years, let alone one year. We will not take threats and name calling or an aggressive and imperialistic alliance in stride. We have grown in a world where we haven't been able to make a vassal state of our neighbors (Mongolia) or in a world where we are all alone on an island or islands with no chance of an enemy invading our capital (Australia) we have grown up in a harsh realm. The Mali, Israel, the Zulu and I myself can atest to this fact. We know what it is like to compete, we will not stand idle while America is stolen by the Asians. That is my claim.

And unlike the Austrlian claim, it is one I am sure I can fufill.

Alright well the time has come, it is another Wednesday and yet another "Hey guys remember that thing we do on Thursdays?" warning!

Well if you've been keeping track of the thread latley, and if you are here you probably have been or are doing so now, things are getting quite intense despite the fact that we did not play last week! This week War4Ever should be back, and better than ever! So I assume we are aready to play.

However, unlike my normally light-hearted Wednesday posts, I am going to have to give this one a small bit of "somberness." You see folks, the enigmatic Chris has returned to reclaim the throne of the Mali Kingdom. This would mark a three to four (can't remember offhand) session long absence for the founder of the Mali empire... there is a bit of a contraversy here (as if we need more). Sekong was informed when he began that he would play temporarily and possibly permenantly if need be. Well Sekong, it seems as if that is going to be a temporary position now that Chris has returned... or is it?

Here's the catch folks, Chris has until tonight at around, oh let's say, I dunno, just by the end of tonight to inform me that he will in fact lead the Mali Kingdom in this upcomming session or else Sekong keeps the tribe for good. Further Chris must tell me that he will commit to this game, make posts (to our site as well as here if need be) and inform us in advance if there is a reason he won't show. Sekong on the other hand, you've been more than a respectable adversary, I have enjoyed your prescence in this game so far, as has everyone else, it is sad that you've gotta jet, but promises are promises, there is a good chance that you won't leave anyway, but just to tell you; there is an equally good chance that you won't be playing as the Mali in this next session. I think I speak for everyone when I say that we've enjoyed your playing and your own brand of "Sekonian" charm, and we hope that you'll remain available as a sub in future games.

Well tonight the playaz will be as follows:

Deity "The Byzantine" of the Aussie Posse.

Drake "Don't call him Highfill" of el Nacion de los Zulos.

Dimbleby "The Blue" of the Israelites and those living under the Israeli flag of which do not particularly enjoy the Isrealites.

Chris "The Late" or Se-"King"-Kong of the Mali.

Prometheus "the Welfare recipiant" of the Chinese.

War4 "Ever" of the Mongolian Hordes (and of course the diseases festering and procreating amongst those hordes).

And finally, Il Capo "the Devilishly handsome, and equally charming" of the Adriatics.

And as always we resume play of this tour de force tomorrow night at 8:00pm eastern standard time in these United States of America. Deity plays some other weird time in Austrlia... or whatever.

So far its been a good game, and despite the two week delay its kept itself interesting, which says a lot for what I think could be the most exciting and meaningful session to date. As always PEACE!

Zulu General Molefi Keti begins sweating as his trireme moves closer and closer to the equator....

He is on his way to the new world to survey first hand, Consul Shakeems claims in what shall be known nationally as Shakeem's Reserve (Eastern South America). With him are several of his finest military units to escort him. His mission is to oversee the building of several key cities in the new world and further cement Shakeems claim there. He has heard the squabbling between other nations and fears that his land, or Keating's established land might possibly be violated. He and his men are to provide support and protection to the settlers in the reserve, as well as Keating's land if necessary, until all cities are large enough to support a military of their own. This land is not negotiable and although this seems to be recognized by the world community, we feel the risk is too great to just leave this area un-defended. The general and his men shall be arriving in Salvador(Brazil) very soon.

As to claims in the continent north of Shakeems reserve, The consul states that he is neutral at this time, for his interests do not lie there. He does however wish to add that if un-honorable practices are performed here, that the Green army may be called upon to bring peace to this area of the world, using any means necessary to do so.

Napoleon Bonaparte looked over the shoreline, the tall trees starkly contrasted the sky, it was dusk...

He looked at the moon, which was just barely visible. He thought to himself about his future, what would occur within the next few weeks would change the world, and would certainly change the Adriatic League. The small raft landed ashore, as the men scurried to help the Corporal off of the ship, it was a crisp night.

"Argento!" called Napoleon.
"Yes sir!" replied the soldier.
"Have you searched the area?" asked Napoleon.
The soldier promptly answered "Yes sir we found human footprints, according to our maps we are rather close to the area of New Timbuktu, shall we take leave?"
"Yes Argento, inform the troops that we set off at daybreak." said the Corporal as the soldier scurried into the encampment, Bonaparte took a deep breath. Just then Admiral Van Der Koss approached him.
"Ah Napoleon, how are you on this fine American evening?" he patted the Corporal on the back.
"Just fine Admiral... Look at this place, it is a brand new world, it makes you think." Said Bonaparte staring into the dense forest.
"About anything in particular Corporal?" asked the sea captain.
"Yes... kings."
"Kings sir?"
"Kings. There is no King here, no rule, no leadership, it is virgin territory, it is free." he said looking around, a slight smile on his face.
"Well I don't know about that Corporal, I am sure the Mali king would take exception to that thought." He chuckled.
"The Mali king is nothing but a man Van Der Koss, so is Ferdinand, that is my point, look at this land, it has no King." he pointed towards the forests.
"You have been at sea too long Bonaparte." laughed the Admiral.
"Perhaps, or maybe you have been on the wrong land Admiral." replied the Corporal, he then walked away.

The next day was very busy, Napoleon ordered his men to pack up quickly, he did not want to disturb the Mali and start more problems, the issue in Tunisia was enough for one year. After a few short hours they were back on track, following the Eastern coastline of the new continent. Things were not so calm back in Venice...

"This is worse than I had expected sire." said Cosimo.
"What now Cosimo?" asked King Ferdinand, visibly exhausted.
"Sire, word is comming from Africa that the Mali King, Ray, may be deposed, I am not sure who is in line for the throne, but with the current situation this can not be a good thing." the King motioned for him to leave, and placed his hand on his forehead. Why must things be this way? he thought to himself, can't everything just work!?!? He stood up and looked out of the palace, the city of Venice, the statue of Carlo D'Medici staring at him, holding a sword in one hand and a book in the other. He stared down at the city, hustling and bustling, the peasants witih not a care in the world.
"Come to bed my lord..." said a voice, it was his wife Vittoria. "You need your rest, you haven't slept well in a week."
"I apologize my lady, I have had many things to discuss with these people, it is exhausting." He sat down on the side of the bed.
"You'll die before you produce an heir with that attitude, then my brother will be king" she said with a smile, pulling him down into the bed.
"Oh yes, Cosimo... can you imagine, King Cosimo." the king said smiling.
"Well it could be worse" said his wife "Consul Machiavelli..."
"Don't remind me, yet another problem I must deal with... the rebel rabble, your father Lorenzo was so lucky, he left this horrible business, politics are the games of evil men." he said, closing his eyes.
"Don't worry my lord, you shall think of something, you are the king, God is with you."
"Tell that to the Pope, he wants a Crusade in the Americas, can you believe this? Has the world gone insane?" he asked.
"Perhaps" she replied.
"My vision is just for peace, for trade, we can all get rich, everyone, China, Australia, Israel, the world. But this, I don't want to be the King that leads thousands of men to their deaths Vittoria, I don't want to be remembered for that."
"Go to sleep sire, please, you will kill yourself just thinking about it."
