The truth about Onion Isle....
Well, three of the Aussies got together for the first time ever at finbar's house last night and he is THE greatest cook!
Alexanders Horse and I along with wives enjoyed the most delicious meal
Civ got mentioned once or twice...
Besides arguing about how to pronounce Makeo (or whether we should feel sorry for Hydey not being there) we bitterly re-fought the Onion Isle campaign.
finbar maintains that it was his from the outset.
It was an island I claimed for THE DEITIANS which is part of the DEITIAN archepelago. finbar just came along and plonked settlers on it!
Damn him, I say.
So once I was at war with Mak.. (as in smack) ee.. oh..
and noticing that finbar was allied to him and had declared war on me I attacked Onion Isle and after a long and bitter struggle regained its possession.
Now just look at this map, it is clearly part of THE DEITIAN archepelago and not an English finbardog in site..

For what it's worth, not that it matters a fig, the reality is that I located, explored, occupied and settled the landmass. There wasn't a Diety unit in sight. Later, Diety inquired about dual occupancy - to wit, would I permit him a city in the top left hand corner? The actions of someone who had already discovered and claimed the territory? I think not. I politely declined dual occupancy.
Ah ... the bliss of revisionism. Conscience salved in a blink of an eye.

finbar,
You occupied MY island;
I was too soft on you at first;
you were allied to my enemy who set up a ridiculous sea restriction and your Advisor declared war on me!

Got it in one, Hydey! A very nifty poison with a remarkable side-effect - it deletes the phrase "I am Spotless" from the imbiber's vocabulary!

Look, a thing about being spotless, after all I'm the expert.
If the Civ Program Advisors say you are Spotless then you are, no matter what.
If you behave spotlessly but the Civ Program can't recognise it due to bugs then rational, intelligent players can easily glean that your rep should be displayed as spotless... simple really

Horse and Deity thought it was (a) Mack-e-o; or (b) Ma-kayo. I forget which one thought which. I was surprised. I, too, thought it was obviously Make-e-o.

It's a shark, you pinheads. Native to the waters off Onion Isle, no doubt.
It grows fat and happy on the many bodies thrown off cliffs in this most unholy of disputes.

I like to pronounce it Muh-kay-oh, myself.
That's the way it reads to my warped mind, anyway.
God...what a scintillating discussion.
