simul war
this sux big time, played last night in my first ever simul game that encountered war, and the quickest to move always wins, if any player ahs any lag they are literaly flucked... I know i wil lbe called a quitter and such i dont care, but simul war is impossible on a Internet Dial up account,,,, I will never play simul again , if that means no more games so be it

Stick to turn order between the players at war? how hard is that... the game goes WAAAAAAAAY faster then normal turn based mode.

markus does make a point.... host has advantage as do others with dsl or cable..... dial up is a nightmare...... it's hard though to declare war when you come across a unit and you know you can take him out before you turn is done......

that said simul x1x1 until war is the best civ experience out there.... but as i always play mongols i go last that sux in itself

the other problem with simul is that it allows no time for negotiatiinf, with turn based you can do this between turns mostly, but in simul you have no time. I always found that slow though they maybe , turn based turns allow plenty of time to manage citys, do diplomacy (The heart of MP) plan the next few thousand years etc...

I alos noticed simul is higlhy unstable and known to do erratic things. One thing it did to me was ehen i clicked on the side panel it passed my turn, it thought i had finished moving all my units which i hadnt..

The worst combination is Simul with a timer, that is a killer !!!!

But for people, so called "experts", who enjoy 1v1 duels, 2v2s, or no tech/trading/wonders/negotiations/units/irrigation/roads/or cities beyond size 1 games, simul is best for the. For other who prefer a more free flowing, anything goes even if its unfair, type games though, turn based is a must.
