Alright people, last time our host didn't DL the new rules.txt, so there was a slight issue. I want this session to go down without a hitch, so I am asking anyone that reads this to try and be a half hour early.

You can get the new rules.txt at http://members.aol.com/nkreefer/rules.txt

It is important that you DL this, especially if you are going to host. Most likely Easthaven will be host, but we'll see. So EVERYONE PLEASE grab the rules.txt, some people reported that instead of going into download the rules.txt simply appears in their browser window. If this occurs with you RIGHT CLICK the window, a menu will appear, select save as and save it into the proper directory (.../civ2/scenarios/hotw2, or whatever other variant you have) as rules.txt, if it asks you to overwrite the old rules.txt say yes.

I know you guys are not idiots, but I've had many experiences in the past that warrant me to explain everything like this. A few of you are familiar with what I mean.

If everyone shows up a half hour early we can get started and get things going. Remember tonight we start with our five minute turn limit, so you should refer to your save files beforehand, so you don't waste time getting re-acquainted. As far as complaints about the five minute time limit, I think they are unwarranted and five minutes is too much time at this juncture in the game. So ay complaints that five minutes isn't enough are ridiculous and will be considered that way. Handle upkeep, negotiations and discussion in your off-turns.

I'm at work now so I should be on ICQ, I am getting set to head out for lunch if you need to ICQ me I'll be back between 2:30 and 3:00 pm Eastern US time. I want to make sure everything goes perfectly this time, we really need a well executed-session.

Peace.

If you spent as much time playing as you do talking about it we might actually get somewhere.... dude

Thanks a lot.. we were all set for a long session and you don't have any reasonable excuse for stopping when you did. And it's NOT the first time.

I'll commit to at least 4 hours next week.

I agree with what deity said......I have lots of things to say, but they're probably better off left un-said.

Lets try for an early start next week. How about 630-7 EST? Can everyone do that? I don't think we should tack time on the end of the session, as it is getting late at night by that time...I think any added time should go on the front end............

It was an interesting session, despite the annoying and confusing conclusion.

Alright, I want to make a few comments here.

First of all, I left after 11:00, we are supposed to stop at 11:00 according to our time frame. I have stayed later in the past, and I think that getting angry at someone for leaving at our set time is ridiculous especially if it is only a one time thing.

This is different than Dimbleby, he did it regularly and without telling people, and without allowing for leeway. I said I had to leave at 11:00, you guys were complaining, Deity asked me to play my turn to "see me fight" so I did that and then saved. I didn't just shove off either, I told you guys I had to go.

If anyone else is angry about this, the only thing I can say is that I am sorry, and this is the last time it will happen. I had to pick up my girlfriend from work, she got off at 10:00 and was there for an hour waiting. Its not a good excuse but that is what was going on. I really really really don't know what else to say other than what I've said, and that is "Sorry, it won't happen again."

If you guys want to change our official playtime we can discuss that. I suggest either 7:00pm - 11:00pm (EST, US) or 8:00pm - 12:00am (EST, US). But she tells me to pick her up at 10:00, I told her I can't leave until 11:00 its something I had planned already, and she said okay be here at 11:10, so I had to leave. I'm sorry, but I made as much preparations as I could, its not fair to leave her waiting longer.

So we can either change our official time, or not complain when every once and a while someone has to leave on time.

Peace.

Uh oh

By the way, I agree, lets all plan on playing 4 to 5, maybe even 6 if we are feeling frisky. The 5 minute time limit worked like a charm. Most people did all their moves in 3 to 4 minutes. It seems that having a ticking clock makes people more concious of their time and they move faster.

I thenk we should plan on starting at 7 est.

BY THE WAY There has been MUCH confusion. STARTING AT 7 means the game BEGINS at that time. So you need to SHOW UP at 630, so we can get all of the mandatory pregame screw ups out of the way.

If this is a problem, please post here, dont tell us on game-day.

If we all practice a bit of common curteousy. Imagine this is your Prom date. I know its a computer game, but we are real people with real commitments, so its important that we all try to be civil and polite.

Adriatic Official Statement:

Let it be known that the Adriatic League has attacked the Mongolian Republic. We had many grievances with the Mongolian Republic beforehand, none of which were resolved. We were treated in a most disrespectful manner, by not only Mongolia, but her allies the Chinese and obviously her allies the Australians.

These grievances shall now be lineated in order to explain the actions of the Adriatic League, though we hold that we are in no obligation to explain our position; the first issue was the border situation. After we moved the border back it was promptly populated by Mongolian soldiers. This is not bothersome if left to that alone, however the methodology the Mongols used on our border was quite questionable. Constant shifts in garrisons, constant movement of mounted units, and build ups on specifically weak areas of Adriatic defenses lead us to believe that the Mongols were preparing for some sort of military maneuver. The great Australian Military Teacher Sun Tsu once said "When some of the army moves, while others sit and talk, something is amiss." Therefore, we felt something was amiss.

We suggested that we both build infrastructure in order to improve trade in the area. The Zulu nation had asked about the quality of roads in central Asia and we were embarassed to admit that they were sub-standard, especially for nations as powerful as the Adriatic League and Mongolia. When we suggested to Mongolia that we connect some of our roads and irrigation so things go quicker, and trade comes faster, they scoffed at the plan and accused us of attempting to gain access to their territory. Again Mongolia disrespected us, possibly showing they had something to hide.

When the Mongols complained of an Adriatic Legion in their territory (northern Siberia) they asked if they could escort the soldier back to AL Territory, we kindly obliged. However the Mongolian Chariot that escorted the unit did so in a way as not to allow it to return to Orsoni, which was the first AL city on the border. Again, showing aggressive tendencies.

In North America, a Mongolian Diplomat was seen headed towards the new colony of Vendetta. When we asked about him no answer was given. Again, a sign of disrespect and deception.

It was among these points that we decided to strike. We did not want to be attacked first, we wanted to make the first strike against Mongolia. Mongolia and her allies are blatant imperialists, plain and simple. Australia's war against us, Chinese complaints about troops that were not in her official territory, among these actions by the Mongols have shown us that this is the truth. We had no time to waste.

Our interest is in peace, however we realize that such a thing could never be achieved. The Australians demanded territory from both the AL and the Mali in exchange for peace! Clearly the Pacific Pact is a belligerent entity, bent on gaining vast colonial empires. We hope for peace, we wish for peace, and we believe peace will one day be achieved. Sadly, you must break something down before it is built back up...

King Cosimo D'Medici.

Adriatic League attacked Mongolia:

The signs of aggression that I witnessed came from the Adriatic League. Three times they crossed the border and trespassed on Mongolian territory, which is very disrespectful I might add, and each time we kindly asked them to return to their own nation. Their legion was in Mongol territory for 2 weeks. The last game I subbed, that legion was there and I asked him to please remove it. 2 weeks later I play and it is still there (very disrespectful) and I kindly ask again to remove it. This time I have a chariot to escort it back to his territory so I can make sure it actually gets back. I tell him that once he crosses the border he may do as he wish with the legion, but as it is on Mongol soil I want it to move directly west which is the quickest way back to the Adriatic League. If he would have moved southward he would have ran into one of my cities.

As for the border, he had three legions on his border and an archer, an elephant in a fortress on an adjecent square of my city Venice and another elphant by it, and for the longest time he had a few crusaders (that is what I call suspicions of a military maneuver). That is when I had only one horseman on my southern side of the border so I decided to place more units on my side of the border since it seemed he was showing hostility. I was merely protecting my country.

AD600 the beginning of Thursday's 4/19/01

AD720 I placed pikemen on the border to match the legions, nothing more nothing less, and I was moving my knight to Venice to better protect my city from those 2 elephants.

The 3rd time he trespassed on Mongol territory. He's says he didn't know it was Mongol territory. Later do I know it is the front line of an offensive attack against us Mongolians! I suspect he's been planning it for years.

I had no intention in attacking, I was only focusing on increasing Mongol economy. The Adriatic League are the ones who have been disrespectful. As for King D'Medici's "interest in peace" I say pah! such foolish words to come from the mouth of a war hungry dictator. The Adriatic League's treachury will not go unpunished!

East, I looked at your latest attempt at inserting an image.
The way you did it looks correct now but there must be a small problem with the url itself - maybe a capital letter is wrong. It only needs one wrong character or fullstop or slash to screw it up... double-check the link's spelling.

"Forgive me father, for I have sinned..."

"My son, tell me of your sins."

"I have many father, I have committed all of the Lord's sins. I am a terrible terrible man."

"No man can be perfect my son, confess and you shall be obsolved."

"I fear that I will committ sins again, my occupation necessitates it. I have no place to turn father, I am a pathetic man."

"We are all the lambs of God my son, he loves us all, no man can be without hope as long as their faith lies in his wisdom."

"Father-"

"What is your occupation my son?"

"I musn't tell you, for you shall know my identity."

"Aye, I have travelled throughout Europe and Africa my son, I have met men of all occupations, even royalty. There's no way your occupation would divulge your identity."

"Father-"

"In the event that your occupation does require you to break the laws of the Lord, you should leave such occupation. For it is surely illegal."

"Some say it is illegal Father. Some say it conflicts with the basic laws of nature."

"My son you must confess, for your sins shall be forgiven, you may repent and renounce your sinful ways. There is nothing more to tell you, such is the way of the Lord, his forgiveness must be achieved by faith."

"Father, I have committed..."

The blood splattered upon Colisimo's face as he cut into the Monogolian soldier, his teeth clenching, his brow tight and wrinkled. The battle before him seemed like a sea of death, never ending into the dusky horizon. He turned and saw Hector, one of his best friends, pulling his crimson sword out of the stomach of a Mongol. Hector looked at Colisimo and smiled, he then bellowed a mighty yell and leaped foward, hitting another Mongolian in the forehead with the butt of his sword. A fleet of mounted units rushed by Colisimo, they were Templars they cut into the first Mongolian flank, which seperated the Muslim(?) troops. The infantry made short work of the dispersing units. He turned to the side and saw an Adriatic convulsing on the ground, a dagger in his throat, his stomach ripped apart, he was staring blankly into the sky. Colisimo pushed forward, knocking over a Mongol who had fallen upon a pike, and shoving his sword into the back of another who was about to stab a fallen European. He reached his hand down to help him up "Thank you Colisimo, are you wounded?" asked the European.
"Nay, I have yet to be cut, you?" replied Colisimo.
"Aye, I have, my leg has a gaping wound" he pulled up the mail to show Colisimo the cut.
"My, it is horrific!" said Colisimo.
"Aye, I fear I shall lose the limb, but I must fight on." said the European.
"Go to then, there is nothing we can do for you, the Alchemist cart is far back, nearly a mile." said Colisimo as he shoved his sword into a charging Mongolian.
"The battle seems close to finish my friend." said the European.
"Aye, it does, HOLD!" Colismo yelled to a mounted knight.
"Yes my son?" said the Knight.
"Please, my friend has been cut, you must take him to the alchemy cart, tis back a ways up the trail."
"I hope I don't miss the end of the battle, eh? Very well, come up I shall ride you back." said the Knight as he helped the European upon his horse, "YAH!" he yelled as the horse turned and galloped the other way, Colisimo stared and turned, the battle seemed close to finish.
"WE HAVE WON! WE ARE VICTORIOUS!" yelled anohter Knight as he raised his sword into the air.
The remaining Adriatic soldiers, who were many, did likewise. One raised a blood-drenched Adriatic flag into the air. Everyone was smiling and hugging, a few Mongols still moved and some of the soldiers were shoving their swords into their stomachs. A few men lifted up a Mongolian flag and pulled it as another ripped his sword through its center slicing it in two. A Templar soldier galloped through on his horse and planted a cross into the ground and lifted his sword into the air, everyone cheered. Colisimo looked upon this scene and fell to his knees, he pulled out his rosary and began the prayers...

Speech by Cosimo D'Medici; Orenburg, Uralksy....

There comes a time in the life of a man when his words are challenged by nature. There comes a time in the life of a man when his conviction, his beliefs, and his credibility are put to test. For the Adriatic League that time is now... Last week a massive assault was conducted against the Mongolian Republic. The Mongolian government has asked "why?", well my friends of the East, I shall now explain. For centuries an entity so massive in size and influence festered among the Eastern tribes like a virus. Peice by peice, bit by bit, sucking the independancy out of every nation in Asia and regurgitating it into some faceless, emotionless, convictionless and uniform rhetoric. They expected to go unchallenged; however they did not. It is clear to any man, whether a well-educated man or a fool, who is in charge of this alliance. Australia. Australia has created the most dominating force the Earth has ever laid eyes upon. Nearly all of Asia, save a few small plots of Adriatic and Israeli land, is owned by this congolmeration. Countless islands and vast stretches of colonial territory serve as curtilage to this massive and dominating conglomeration. Mongolia shares the largest international border in the world with her neighbors the Israelites and the Adriatic League, but what about her allies? China is completely surrounded by the Mongols, Australia on the other hand is safely hidden away in the depths of the Pacific Ocean, with not a single enemy for thousands upon thousands of miles. In an attempt to undermine the sovreignty of Western powers, the Australian Republic decided to invade our Mediterranean Ocean and spit on our treaty, the FAWT agreement. The Chinese for their part gave no respect towards the land grant they recieved from the global community, gave no thanks, gave nothing. These two nations have forever spat upon all decency and respectability. But as one is seperated from us by thousands of miles of ocean, and the other tucked away in the recesses of Asia, the Adriatic League was unable to respond strongly... A friend of my enemy is my enemy! Thus anyone who holds Australia in any type of high regard, anyone who holds intercourse with this nation upon the seas, land, or upon a treaty is my enemy! Anyone who signs into an alliance, promising mutual defense, and perpetual friendship and cooperation with my enemy IS MY ENEMY! Therefore, as we could not possibly hurt Australia we decided the time was right to show the Mongols the error of their ways. They say to me, they plea "Cosimo, we never spoke or acted against the Adriatic League, why do you attack us?" If the Mongols truly had no inclination that I would attack them, I seriously doubt their leadership abilities. To the Mongols I have nothing but respect, they are a trustworthy people, they believed that they could trust me despite the fact that I was at war with their ally. Some may say this is a weakness, however I believe if applied correctly it could be a strength; honor is a strength. I have nothing against Mongolia, my war is with Australia and this wretched Pacific Pact. In closing I wish to say this to the Mongolian officers and commanders; when you look accross that battlefield, when the day is done and the dust settles, when you look out upon a sea of blood-soaked dead Mongols. When you are being carted away by our soldiers like mules, remember why it is happening. Remember your allies the Australians, remember their flag, the shape of their country, remember everything. Then remember the battle, remember how our troops ran roughsod over yours with no remorse or mercy, remember when you took those glances to your left, your right and to your back. Remember when you waited to see the Australian flag rise over the horizon, remember when you were saddened... because that is when you shall realize Mongolia, that they are NOT COMMING. They will not rush over the hills to protect you, they will not send some powerful and dominating Legion towards the battlefield. Australia shall not come to your aide. So when your men are being gutted, being slaughtered like pathetic swine, remember why. And know that help is NOT on the way...

The Outraged Easthaven X, Consul of Mongolia-Palace in Karakorum, Mongolia:

The treacherous Adriatic infidels have attacked our great nation. They have attacked with impunity. However, they will face the consequences, they WILL be punished for their foolish acts. The only blood Mongolians will be soaked in is the blood of the ADRIATICS! They say we will never see the Australian flag, well we will see the Australian flag as well as the Chinese, but most of all the Adriatic League will be seeing the Mongolian flag coming over the horizon! And the LAST thing the Adriatic League will see is the Mongolian flag being waved by a Mongolian soldier standing on the tallest hill in Orsoni. We will no longer tolerate such treachery from such terrorists!! They will pay!!! That is a promise to all of Mongolia! The Adriatic League will pay in BLOOD!! They dare challenge our great nation to a fight! They caught us off guard but we know that a Mongolian soldier will always rise to the occasion to kill a few Adriatics. The Pacific Pact will not fail, Mongolia will not fall!!! Mongolia and our strong allies will be victorious!! The Adriatics slaughter a few of our border patrols and they think they are powerful enough to take on one of the most powerful nations in the world?! Such ignorant fools!!! I must tell that King D’Medici and his loyal dawgs, when you see your cities in ruins and your fields in ashes, your soldiers mutilated and the Mongolian army marching across your lands you better remember those Mongolian faces you saw decapitating your men. You had better remember that Mongolian flag waving in victory. You had better remember that day when you decided to mess with this Mongolian nation! THEY WANT A WAR, WE WILL GIVE THEM A WAR!!!!……..

Another attack by the AL upon Aussie soldiers in Central America!
But they failed....

After the Aussies captured Cuba in the previous period the war with the AL ebbed. Vast distance separates our two nations but the AL, so keen to see blood, couldn't wait till they could launch an invasion on Australia. Instead, they trick their neighbour and attack them! It's a bit like beating up your friend because your worst enemy is interstate!!!!

How weak?

How pathetic!

We did not wish this war.

But the AL and their running dogs sank a peaceful Aussie ship and attacked innocent soldiers protecting their colonies. AL are Gutless wonders.

Paul our great leader said:

"We swear allegience to our allies and will use all the resources at our disposal to aid the Mongols in this war."

We seek other nations in the world to wake up to this evil threat that permeates from Europe. They preach one thing but at the heart of the matter their leaders enjoy being bloodthirsty war-mongering sons of *****es to be sure.... but they sit in their dining rooms in Venice as though it were a story.

Their key weapon is rhetoric and playing the bureaucratic game to cement power for their leaders. But the poor AL nation, the people, are being conscripted into armies and fighting wars they did not even wish to be involved in. For, they are not soldiers, they are family men and boys as young as 10. They are ill-equiped under-trained and pathetic as fighters.

The tiny yet highly trained Aussie army will continue to punish the AL in the Carribean.

The enormous and also highly talented Mongol and Chinese armies will see oceans of AL blood. These poor family men and boys of the AL will be lost to their wives and mothers forever.....

"...and now we compare the 300's style New Gao native art as to the more contemporary work coming from Cairo"

Lieutenant Urbania bursts through the door, then stops realizing his own rudeness.

...A pause...

"Well Lieutenant, you've already interrupted us with your rudeness, dont worsen your plight further by boring us with silence."

"Er, yes my Soverign King, I apologize. I have urgent news"

"Yes yes, ive already deduced that, come now man, if its urgent lets have out with it."

"Soverign King, King Medici has invaded Mongolia, China has declared also, the Asian Alliance is now unitied"

Silence

"Soverign King, The Adriatic League has declared war and attacked Mongolia!"

"Lieutenant, if you do not cease insulting my intelligence ill remove you, permenantly, now I heard you, and yes I managed to comprehend the first time, what is their progress?"

"I am so sorry Soverign King.
They have pushed all along the front, heavy causalties on the Mongolian side. They appear to be headed to Samarkand, or maybe Kabul, or India...

"Stop stop Lieutenant, your hurting me. Honestly. Convine my Council immediatly"

"Yes Soverign King"

Foreign and Military Affairs briefing

Situational actions

Adriatic Declaration of War upon Mongolia
Offensive undergone, much progress made
Heavy Mongolian Causaulties, full 7 Divisions expected lost, European losses, minimal. Pushing on Kabul and Karakorum. Expected objective, Samarkand. Chance for success, predicted at 70%.

Chinese entry into the war. Not predicted, but not unexpected. Possible effect, minimal. Some strong forces in North America. Possible intervention into Mexico. Not much assistance in Asia.

Situation in Panama, tenuous. City encircled, though pockets of resistance outside the city remain. Australian siege effective. Attributed to quality of troops. Chances for succesful assault on Panama, predicted at 50%.

Cuba, secured by Australia.

Overall impressions

Adriatic League, grossly outnumbered. Losing in America due to low preperadness level and quality of Australian troops. Chances for recouping losses, minimal without a stronger commitment. Success in Asia due to high preperadness level and suprise quality. Chances for continued success, fairly high. Capably lead military, questionable decsions in the Carribeanean, but obvious commitment to Asia.

Mongolia, outnumbered. Losing in Asia due to low preperadness levels and outnumbered. Will have to give more ground before stablizing things. Strong gold reserves but not prepared to react. Serious situation at Samarkand, where Michelangelo's Chapel resides. Loss could be serious for the Republic. Chances for survival are high, but chances for success are marginal.

China, outnumbered. Expected to have no forces in Asia. None factor production-wise. Force in North America of marginal quality. Incapable of responding or even sustaining a war. Entry was totally based on loyalty, as it serves not practical purpose.

Australia, outnumbered, but quality. Leadership is highly competent. Outnumber Europe in America, and are of better training and leadership. Overrunning of Mexico a possibility. Incapable and impotent in assisting Mongolia or China however. Reports of continued large scale domestic projects show they are unconcerned with allies well-being. Chances for success predicted to be high.

The Asian Alliance, as a whole appear stronger then Europe. Threat to be taken serious. Australia however seems uncommitted to preservation of Mongolia and China. Mongolia faced with a serious threat, but possibly capable of turning back.

Recommendation by the Chief Generals.
War

If Europe is defeated, Mali is faced with a triple Entente of loyal allies. Cannot allow Mali colonies to be surrounded by Asian colonies. Further, must force Australia to somehow intervene to assist their allies.

Therefore, a declaration of War upon China and Mongolia is recommended. invasion of Chinese North America should commence immediatly. Assistance in Mexico should be offered should Panama fall. Further, the allowing of arms and naval sells should be proffered to Europe.

DECLARATION OF WAR

Tragically, the inevitable has happened. As we speak, Europe has embarked on a death struggle with the Mongol empire. As they hasten towards Samarkand, the Chinese Empire declares in favor of their asian brethern.

With the Asian Empires aligned against a European Empire, beleaguered in America, Mali must take stock. Do we allow Europe to be locked out of America, and see it dominated by Asians? An America that is the lifeblood and future of Mali? Can we allow Central Asia to fall to the Asians also?

The Europeans have been aggressive yes, but they are meerly one nation. The Triple Entente of China, Mongolia, and Australia, pose the single greatest threat to national self-determination.

Let you not forget, Mali remains at war with Australia. Though their obvious intrest is in Europe rather then us, this only adds to the urgency of this. We cannot let Europe fall. Despite where fault may lay, despite who may be wrong or right, it cannot be allowed for the Asians to reign supreme.

Mali, therefore, and most regretfully, announces a declaration of War upon belligerents China and Mongolia, allies of Australia.

May the gods have mercy on all our souls.

Shakeem sat comfortably in his palace, looking out upon the Indian Ocean. Things in the Zulu Nation were going very well, to say the least. He and his people slept soundly at night, safely within their well guarded cities. There was no threat of war or aggression.

Shakeem had to give it to the other countries of the globe, for they have been demonstrating their intelligence. No country to this point has been foolish enough to defy King Shakeem and the supreme Zulu Nation guard. King Shakeem has done what he wants and will continue to do so. He is a most reasonable man and asks for only very modest things for his people. But do not be fooled by this fair leaders. Shakeem has the heart of a warrior and an ill temper to boot. He will not tolerate insolence from any man, as no man is truly his equal.

As war rages thousands of miles away across land and sea, Shakeem and his people are celebrating life and the prosperity that it brings them. As other nations trip over themselves to assemble their armies for war, the Zulus are using their production for much greater things. As the squabbling between nations continue, the Zulus are kicking back and growing more and more powerful. "Let them fight, their fighting will only make us stronger." says Shakeem.

As the sun began to set, Shakeem smiled. His beautiful Zulu wife extinguished the candles that were burning and joined Shakeem in his bed.....Shakeem laughed.........

You can play multiplayer off the regular civ cd. Just start up multiplayer like you normally would. Apparently it just checks for "Civ" not which Civ.

Even ToT CD works but hopefully East got the crack.

--------------
(the story continues...)

Paul is bewildered by the need of other nations to attack innocent nations they are at peace with and who have done them little harm.

After much consideration, Paul believes the fate of the Chinese can follow one of two courses.

1) Mali carry out their threat to attack. Probability 100% - LOL
Chinese are believed to be quite vulnerable militarilty but may pull off some surprisingly good defence that will diminish the Mali strength in North America quite considerably. This would be usefull to the Aussies and the Pacific Pact but the price paid and the suffering of the Chinese people needs to be reconciled.
Aussie help will arrive too late to assist the Chinese but if the Mali follow this course they too, like the AL, will be in a state of perpetual war with Australia.

2) It is understood that the Mali really wish no harm to the Chinese and are seeing it as an exercise in limiting the power of the Pacific Pact.

Paul can see the Mali's point on this.

Thus, Foreign Policy shift by Aussie Republic:

"IF the Chinese BELIEVE it is in their own best interests to leave the Pacific Pact alliance Australia will bear no malice or grudge against the Chinese in such an event. We believe our nations will always be friendly and grow to become great trading nations, regardless."

This is Aussie policy, NOT Pacific Alliance policy. Our allies may have other views on the matter.

[the Aussie Chinese diplomat was found to be drunk on Fosters in a Chinese hotel and was incapable of functioning under the affluence of incahol....
Thus a direct dialog with China on this matter has not yet been established]

No specific deals have been struck with the Mali but it is believed they will call off the attack if the Chinese exit the Pacific Alliance.
This does not necesarily mean that war has ceased between our two nations but clearly some of the tensions between Mali and Australia would ease a little under these circumstances.... prompting more dialog.

Chinese Statement:

After consultation with its allies and the Mali Government, the Chinese Empire announces its full withdrawal from the Pacific Pact. Henceforth all allied activities have been cancelled with a heavy heart. While the Pacific Pact have been good friends and are expected to remain good friends, we no longer believe the Pacific Pact is in the interest of either party. We thank the Pacific Pact for its helpful hand in the Chinese formative years to catch up with the rest of the world but as the Chinese Empire developed we became have started to become more of an American Power than an Asian Power.

With this in mind the Chinese have formed an Alliance with the great Mali Nation. The Mali Nation being the other great power of North America has led the Chinese empire to believe that they are the obvious choice for the greater security of the Chinese Empire.

With this policy shift the Chinese Empire will not be declaring war on the Adriatic Empire and while we are not happy about the Adriatic’s settling of Hawaii we understand that they meant no transgression and our fleet will stop its build up and sail from its territorial waters.

Also we realize the special territorial relation with the Mongol Empire and propose a non-aggression pact that entitles neither power will build up forces or fortify forces on each other’s border.

"Those Mali are growing quite strong, are they not Molefi?" Shakeem asked his general.

"Yes sir, their diplomats are sheer genuises. Their foreign relation skills are something we should take note of. They are the country I think we may have been looking for" says the General.

"Yes Molefi, and all the while, they were always right under our noses. The Adriatics lack patience. The Mongolians lack the right attitude. The Chinese and Aussies are too far away and *laughing* the Israelis are just too damn pathetic."

"So what is our next step King? How do we make our proposition?" asks the General.

"Let me handle it Molefi"

From the diary of Duke Livan Abdur of New Gao
Ambassador to his High King Prometheus
From Prometheus City

Late this night, soon after Mali's declaration of war was received by the embassies at Mongolia and China, that the Ambassador of Australia paid a call to the Mali Embassy. Quite surprised I was unable to adequately entertain him as a proper host, a serious failing for a Mali man of my stature, but quite unavoidable.

There was much discussion about the war, how it was going, every ones prospects, particularly the fate of the Asian Nation of China. Mongolia and Australia were quite aware of the fact that they proved to be totally incapable of defending Chinas most treasured possession, West North America, and that the fate of that land laid in Mali’s hands. The prospect of Mali dominating North America and being hostile to the Asians, and being driven closer to Europe, apparently deeply disturbed him. He was also surprisingly sensitive to Mali's fears of the powerful Asian Alliance.

Though I had always had respect for the Australians, their keen grasp of the realities of the situation was impressive. There is much work to be done tomorrow.

Announcement:
To all Embassies
To all Nations

The world has changed since the olden days, before our ancestors first set out to sail the great oceans of our World to discover the New World. At the time, the Chinese Empire was sheltered by the powerful Asian Alliance, and Australia and Mongolia shielded it from danger.

Since the discovery of the New World however, circumstance has changed. The Chinese Empire, having secured an enormous portion of the New World for themselves, exploded along the virgin continent. Now they stand ready to grasp a destiny of greatness, a position among the great nations of the world of Australia, Mongolia, Zulu, Adriatic, and Mali.

As they were preparing to take this mantel of power, though, they remained one with their Asian Brethern. Though Noble in its own right, it proved to be very threatening to the Nation of Mali, which considers the New World the New Future.

Circumstance had brought Mali to war with Australia. And now as the Asian Alliance unitied to face the Adriatic League, there was extreme concern that Mali would soon also be encircled in America. Forced into action, Mali declared war.

But all great men find a way, and find a way Mali has, with the help of Australia and China. Australia, and Mongolia, quickly realized they were no longer able to help China, not in America, where China's great future lay. So the offer was made. China need not fight Mali. Mali was concerned with her secruity, specifically the enormous border it shared with an Asian China. Mali had no choice but strengthen itself for what it felt was the oncoming onslaught. However, if China were Mali's ally...

And so the thought brings us here. China is now quickly becoming not an Asian country with American colonies, but an American country with Asian colonies. Her need for secruity is in America, where Mali can provide it, not in Asia. With forsight that is a signal of great leadership, King Prometheus saw the shift, and made the change.

Mali hearby announces the acceptance of the Chinese proposal for an alliance. The Chinese, with the permission and best wishes of Australia and Mongolia, will withdraw FULLY from the Asian Alliance, and cast its lot in with the Mali.

The Alliance will be a strong binding between the two nations. We will fully demilitarize our borders, we will cooperate in the building of infastructure, we will ensure the sharing of technological research, and the investments of our nations. Our nations shall stand together in defense of each other, and nethier shall allow the other to fail.

This of course, includes the Chinese withdrawl from the war with the Adriatic League, and the Mali withdrawl from the war with Mongolia and Australia. Though some points still remain to be decided between Mali and Australia, there WILL be peace.

Inside the Sky Palace of Gideon

Inside the War Room Counsel SunTzu VI and his Military Generals are discussing the recent tensions in the world.

"General Rahif report!"

"Sire, the AL Asian Army has invaded Mongolia and we think they are driving towards the Capital Samarkand. Mali has declared war on Mongolia but we are uncertain on where they will be fighting wether on the Asian Front or the North American Front.
Sire this is Major General Shadam Hakim of the Intelligence Agency of Jerusalem"

"Sire it is great to finally meet you! Our intelligence reports a strong concentration of AL Forces fighting in Central Mongolia.
Mongolia has an outdated army but has the finances to build a modern army.
The recent declaration of war by Mali and the withdrawal of the Chinese from the Pacific Pact will most likely make the task of mongolia and the Pacific Pact of winning the Ancient World War difficult"

"Good Hakim, that's good. Rahif get the army mobilized!"

"Yes Sire!"
