I wish I could've tonight (Monday), but the cable connection was stuffed from early this afternoon until just now (midnight). Must have been the 6" of rain in the last two days.

Hydey, I've always said I prefer Melbourne's climate to Sydney's. Sydney is turning into the tropics. About the only benefit Sydney's climate provides is the capacity to grow tomatoes into May.

Wrong film, Horse. Mansfield was very close to where they shot the fishing sequence in "On The Beach" with Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner. It would've been a nice quote by Ava Gardner - Melbourne being an appropriate place to make a film about the end of the world - only she didn't ever say it. Melbourne journo Neil Jillet made it up.

Hey Hydey. Heineken is going to take over Foster's. You will singlehandedly turn the Dutch budget deficit into a surplus, my son.

I think I've found my calling! Wine titler!
Who the hell would even pick half of those unappetizing sounding labels up? Especially that last one..."Yellowglen"...yeah, right.
Ooooh! Eaglehawk! That's creative! Psssh...

There's a couple of reasonable wines in the list but most of it's budget-priced stuff. Balgownie used to be a great wine when Stewart Anderson owned it and made the wine. He sold out and it became just another wine. Andrew Garrett's stuff is good drinking but overpriced for what it is.
Baileys was a fine old traditional company. Big, muscular reds and some world-class tokays and muscats. Their reds are now made more to drink young, unfortunately. Marketing, y'see.
Mount Helen was very good about 15 years ago when John Ellis was the winemaker. Its vineyards were (and probably still are) in very high country, giving some interesting results. It's now just yet another mid-range wine producer.
Yellowglen is actually a champagne-method label. At one time it was said to be the best Australian champagne-method drop. Personally, anything other than good French gives me indigestion.
