Terrain Improvments
What really bothered me about terrain improvments and upgrading teh transportation net, was that it removed the existing road/RR on the square.
This was especially annoying for upgrading from roads to RR, because you basically went back to no roads at all for a few turns.

Go back and check the game. Roads upgrade in one turn. In fact, laying any improvement over an already existing one will change over in one turn. Try placing a mine over a farm, and see what happens.
I wish that there was a reduction in cost when upgrading mines or farms.

Yes! It really bothered me that my investment in farms only benefitted me in terms of speeding up conversion to advanced farms, but that the cost was still the same. It should be cheaper to upgrade existing improvements

I think what Ember meant was that if you upgraded your road to RR, for example, *before* you moved your units the road benefit was gone for that turn. I always made sure I'd moved all my units before laying down the tracks

I agree, it shall be cheaper to upgrade than to build a whole new one. The way CTP1 handle this really sux.
