The one land mass-no islands map.(just a thought)
think about it,

Every one starts off resenting you for being on the same continent that they are all on!

so just how hard would sutch a map be to play on, reguarding diplocmacy,

or does the game adjust for that, and we just dont realise it?

In my game, the Native Americans and I started out on different continents, but we both colonized a nearby large island. Suddenly, we weren't friends anymore. They got on my nerves, so I declared war and kicked them off the island, but I left them alone on their continent. Now, they are my best friends again. We even have an Alliance.

The moral of the story is NEVER SHARE.

Well, I'm still on my first game and it so happens that for whatever reason I happened to have the (mis)fortune of getting one land mass and two small (barely fit two cities) islands. So everyone is on one huge continent. And yes, it is vey difficult as far as diplomatic relations go, because everyone dislikes me, no matter what I do. And the reason in the intelligence screen is inevitably that I am on their continent. Oh well, it makes things dangerous at least. And everyone else is in the same boat.

When you first start a new game and create a world there is an option to select I think it's map. In this screen there are a lot of slider controls. If you slide the one for ocean and land all the way towards land, the world created will be one large land mass with lakes and a lot of rivers. You can use cheat mode to verify this. This can be done in CTPI as well.
