Does anyone know what triggers the 'launch'-button on the Gaia-Controller screen? I built the required city improvements (cores, satellites, and obelisks), but it needed waaay more than it told me on the screen until I could actually click on the button on the top of the Gaia-controller screen and activate it (it said on the screen that I needed 10 cores, 5 satellites, and 10 obelisks, but I needed to build more than 50!). Do I need a core in every city, a certain amount of world map coverage (in the end, I had about 60%), or what??

I had the same problem.

It looks like the radius from the cores can be increased, but I never got it above 8.

It seems that if you have a very concentrated empire, you can not win this way, for you can not get a high enough coverage to start the machine. :-(

Ok, I found it in one of the text files. You need to have 60% of the earth covered by receivers to activate the gaia controller.

The coverage radius of the obelisks depends on the number of power receivers built, goes from a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 8.

I think that I will change the value for land coverage depending on map size before I start a new game. The information is located in

\ctp2_data\default\gamedata\EndGameObjects.txt

in your main CTP directory.

Thanks for the site info, I'll try and increase the limit of 8 radius.
