Is it THAT boring???
Hi,
i just bought CtP2 and i don't know if it's because i didn't learn how to play it well or if that's the way the game is, but IT'S SO BORING! I played Civilization 2 and that was SOO better than CtP2... i mean, CtP2 is like, walking with the unit and finding units from other nations then battling them... How do I work on Diplomacy? Why don't thos freakin Settlers don't help me finding a good place for a new city?
I'm really lost in the game... please help me!

Nacho

That is not all. All civ games have that but there is much more. Building farms/mines/roads/etc, trade routes, building wonders and infrastructure. There's more than battling and walking.

1. Read the manual
2. It's the little "hands" icon on the navigator at the bottom of the screen

Perhaps you should play the game on beginner first, especially since you did not play CTP1

I kinda advanced a little in the game after i left the topic. But I still have tons of questions. If u don't mind, i'd like you to help me out a bit...
I've been having trouble with:
-building roads (don't know how!! 'R' hey doesnt work like Civ2! :-)
-using slaver units
-finding the right places to build new cities
and there's much more, but i just can't remember them!

I'd appreciate your help on this very much!

In CTP you don't use Setler for tile improvement
but Public Work. Just look at the tab "Tile" in the control panel.

-using slaver units

Right-clic on your units you will see
what you can do with it.

i tried to go to a enemy city... it started having some kind of twister on top of it, then an eye appeared beside the city's name!!

I love it, the slaver twister (right hand to red). Thats the slave nets enslaving someone. The eye means the city is now under alert and it wont be as easy to enslave from that city for 5 turns.

Wow... I didn't know they were slave nets. They really should have explained that in the manual, I thought it was a UFO landing or something

It's really not too hard to plop a city down. I like to build near rivers (because of the food bonus), near mountains (because of the production bonus), on the ocean (because it allows for shipbuilding and exploring other continents), and at strategic chokepoints that help to block the AI's expansion. I tend to stay away from swamps, jungles, and forests because they aren't very helpful. Later in the game, however, I do tend to build cities here due to the lack of land and just terraform all the tiles around the city into grasslands and such.

Hope this helps!
