Bombardment issue - need help.
Ah, I spent all of these turns building Ironclads and then subs so I could bombard from the sea. When I attempt to bombard a city or land improvement I get some "popgun" sound and the "no smoking sign." Obviously, I am an idiot or there is something wrong that I just don't get. Could someone please enlighten me on how to successfully bombard cities? Thanks.

I think that this options wqas not included in CTP2 on purpose? So you actually cannot bombard land from ships. I don't like it either, maybe this will change in some mods...

Ironclad can only bombard naval units (actually IS in the manual). Use a Battleship to bombard land.

Open the "Units.txt" file in your default gamedata folder.
Scroll down to unit #35 Ironclad. Scroll through the entry until you see toward the end "CanBombard: Water". Add the line "CanBombard: Land".
You can do this for Ship of the Line too (Unit # 55)
Have fun bombarding land

What?!
Think he was making a joke that it's kind of hard to bombard land with a submarine... they aren't really built for it.

They did this on purpose? Are these guys really smarter than us? Add to the fact that the AI considers naval warfare irrelevant and there is no reason to build surface combat ships. I hate having to rewrite progams that I just payed good money for.
