How do you ????????????

I have each of my cities with the allowed 12 units. I have modernised and want to get rid of the catapults etc.. that are well outdated and taking up the places. Apart from putting them outside the city or loosing them in war (I dont want to go to war yet) How do I get rid of them so I can put the more modern units such as bombers in their place? Can you delete them somehow and in that way create more room? How is this done?

For each unit there is a delete option. Select the unit (a little window will appear in the lower part of the screen) with different actions, fortify, sleep etc.
Look for the delete button, press it, and you will be asked if you really want to delete the unit.

I'm beating a dead horse here, but its disband. This is horribly obvious, but since you're new I don't want to confuse.

Also, half the production cost of a disbanded units goes back into the city. So the new units you are building will be ready a turn or so sooner.
