you don't need to exit windows. Just open a DOS Prompt Window via Start - Programs or Start - RUN - command [enter]
then, on bmp2ctp folder, type this:
bmp2ctp2 world.bmp world.txt
the -1 param you put if needed
Other way, create a text file, rename to 'create bmp.bat' and inside it put the bmp2ctp2 command. Then you just have to double-click the .bat file

The bad command or file name would mean to me that the bmptoctp2.exe program isn't in the directory that you are trying to call on. Check to see that you have the following files in the directory: bmptoctp2.exe
Other than that the bat file is a good choice and means you only need to change the input and output file. Just a note that the -1 is if you don't want the bmptoctp2 prog to shrink the map to a 1x2 ratio, the -1 will maintain the size of your bmp so a 400x400 becomes a 400x400 map for ctp2.
This is my bmp.bat file:
@echo off
cls
bmptoctp2.exe -1 Italy.bmp omni_Italy.txt
Hope this helps.

thanks guys it worked. I don't know why it didn't work the other way.
Omni,
I don't have photoshop and your map doesn't work in paint. Do you have a version of your map that is 1000x 500 with rivers?

Sorry I don't have a smaller version with rivers, only what is posted in the forum thread in creation is available at the 1000x500 size. I'm fairly busy at the moment so I don't plan on creating a smaller version either.

Omni,
Don't worry about it. I got the final preview converted. Problem is which order do i use when I change the CONST.
Change 70 140 2 to
1000 500 2 or
500 1000 2
I originally used 500 1000 2 on a new game. boy it was HUGE!!!!!
and full of islands. And extremely Slow on 64 megs. Does anyone know if adding memory will speed up the map of this size? it would take about 5 to ten minutes to open up a menu or to finally close the map down took about 10 minutes.
How do I open the Chat window to import a map?

To open the chat window you press the apostrophe (') to close you press enter. It's all in the readme file accompaning the bmp map zip. For a squared map in the preview window the format should be 500x1000 but that's cosmetic The map you've converted though is 1000x500 so unless you resize the previewed map I'd suggest you stick with the 1000x500 in the const.txt.... sorry the world is shaped like that and ctp2 wants to go the other way

Omni,
Thanks Rich. I figured it would 1000x 500, But I wasn't sure. I wasn't sure if it was "'" or "*". It was so slow, that I didn't bother to try it. Now I know I had the wrong dimensions. I will try again when I get more memory.
