Modification Tips Editor Needed
it becomes obvious that there is a need to gather all the various(small and big) tips for modifying CTP2
one of these days we'll have some system to update the modification pages, but there is still the need for someone finding the right stuff in the forums, formatting it correctly and perhaps posting it in the CTP2 section
so the question is: Do you want to work at Apolyton?
You'll get a special title and 100 posts/week in your post count

Actually, I *did* considered writing a 'modmaking for dummies' guide of some sort that would contain step-by-step instructions on basic things such as adding units/civs/advances/etc. but it turns out that, because I have the beta and not the final game, there's a lot that I can't write about yet: I got stuck on 3 subjects already. So I just gave up on, at least for the time being. Once I get my copy of the final game SLIC will have my priority but maybe I can spare some time...
But doing this kind of thing as a 'job'? Nah, too busy making mods myself...
Sounds like an excellent idea though.

OK,OT I know, but I actually did laugh out loud when I read CD's title
As the guy who turned CTP1 into a real fun game IMO, I vote that you let him keep it Markos. Appropriate titles due to the other A team members?
Wes,- Legendary nice guy mod maker who really tries hard to please everyone?
or Harlan - Legendary historical expert mod maker, who is doomed to frustration as it will never be historically accurate?...
( Sorry.. got a bit carried away )

LOL, Markos. I meant it in jest, but thank you. As for the rest of the guys well, why don't you ask them? Harlan and WesW certainly should get something too - they've done a lot of great work.
Haha, I know it. A poll!

Well, I am glad to see Luke on the forums. I didn't know if he would think enough of the sequel to come back or not.
As for a title, everyone who would be impressed by it already knows of my contributions, so I don't need it. Actually, it may come across as a little stuck-up, like wearing a medal you received every day. I mean, you may deserve some recognition, but there is no need to flash it around every time you post.
If you had a website that was hosted by Apolyton, then you could have a title referring to that, since it would be a way of advertising the site.

Markos
Can you demote me back to Prince?
I think I've come to a decision. I won't be modding CtP2 myself - don't have the time. Maybe when I return to uni next year. The title somehow creates expectations that I will mod CtP2, and I know I won't be doing that.
Would be kind of silly having that title when you're not going to be doing anything for CtP2:P Not directly, anyway.

Since the Med Mod is THE deFacto standard a medmod.apolyton.net does sound like a good idea.

BTW files for units are:
sounds.txt
spriteID.txt
Units.txt
Units_historic.txt
Units_release.txt
gl_str.txt
Great_Library.txt
tut_str.txt
went through every txt file searching for samu (samurai) in them.Who is Samuel Jackson by the way came up about 4 times.

There are a few times in the Med mod intro thread where I have listed some tips as I have figured them out in my mod efforts. There are also some threads specifically about editing things where some of us have listed what to do about units and a couple of other things.
When I get some other things finished, I will start a few threads entitled "mod tips on 'blah-blah'", where I will cover things I have found out about. You can look for these, and paste things you think are worthy into your database.

No, DK hadn't the time to spare in the end, and resigned. Hexagonia did however put togther a PDF document detailing how to go about modding, and you can find it somewhere around here.
Incidentally, to whoever was around when this thread was first posted (Locutus ) What was CD's title?
