Harlan's New Graphics
Here is some of Harlan's new graphics.
(Harlan, didn't know where to post them for sure. I figured starting a new thread would keep the pics and posts regarding the pics separate since this thread is bound to be a long D/L.)
EDIT: I converted the pics to jpg and made them as small as possible.

Hi Scorp,
Those are really nice pictures from Harlan. They would do any mod proud. Think we can talk Wes into using them in his Med Mod II?
Regards,
Timothy Pintello

Those pictures are beautiful!
Is there more that Harlan is working on?
How about new unit graphics as well.
Thanks, Harlan, your work is invaluable.

I took great interest in these graphic samples since I have a possible mod project planned. So far, I have part of it planned in a notebook. My problem is with graphics - I do not have a graphics software program yet (such as PhotoShop), so I might be purchasing one soon.
However, I am not good at all in producing good graphics. I will be on the lookout for links to graphics for units, wonders, and advances.
Thanks for your work, Harlan, MarkG, and Scorpio.

Glad people like the graphics. As was mentioned in another thread, you can now download a bunch of the wonders at Wes' website (apolyton.net/wes), and hopefully the techs and buildings will be there by today or tomorrow, depending on how fast Wes can put them up.
Dan, I assume you're the same as a Daniel who emailed me, so I'll post my reply to that here:
>I could not begin to say how nice the graphics you find are. I like how you use other sources for your graphics, I could never make them either. I wanted to know what program you use?
I use Photoshop, plus a free program called Hypersnap to help me grab graphics from programs.
>Also do you know how they make the animation for the death scens, fight scens etc. for the units? I don't have a program for viewing the sprites so I don't know how everything works. However I wanted to try to make at least one complete units with sounds an all myself, even if it looks like crap just to discover how it works.
They use a very powerful program that is Windows NT only- Softimage or something to that effect. The key is using a 3D program. You should ask Morgoth about this, as he's the only one making units using a 3D program that I know of.
> I thought "Image Forge" might be ok for the avi's. What do you think. Something good but not more than 50-100$ to make the avi's. I want to do it but without spending 800$ or whatever for something like activision uses.
I have no idea about Image Forge or what it does. I don't even have the slightest clue about making .avis, but its something I would like to know, so I could make at least one frame .avi movies for the wonder graphics I've made, so at least something will be shown when one of the wonders is built, if people put them into mods.

To make avis you can download (for free) a 1.5 meg program called "Blender" It is extremely complicated and its taken me away from a mod i was making just trying to get used to it there are several tutorials online which helped. The interface is very complicated and can get you very angry at times but not quite angry enough to but your fist through your monitor (yet).
I still haven't figured out how to use the animations so all my avis have consisted of just a still image
It is also great for creating 3d images I thought you might have used it for your pics Harlan.download it at: http://www.blender.nl/ and there is also a load of links to tutes there as well. Checkout the site if only to see the pics.
Does ANYONE have a sprite editor i need to create some unit pics??
