OCC comes to CTP2
I just made a One City Challenge scenario. I suppose it is a little like Troll's gameplay setups, the human gets a settler, the AI gets as many as it can build - try to win. I forgot to include a readme file with the scenario, but it is just like other scenarios, unzip into the scenarios directory. (With Winzip for best results)
The map, I drew out, so that the 7 enemy civs are around your island, in the central lake. Be warned, SLIC is used to prevent you building settlers, and the AI will really hate you.
Download from http://members.aol.com/wvrs4 . It is occ.zip
Have fun.

Oops, sorry, to anyone who downloaded it yesterday, but there were problems with it, some more important than others. It is now fixed, and back up at http://members.aol.com/wvrs4/occ.zip
Among other changes, it now has a readme

Despite my attempts to get a decent scenario out, it still takes 3 attempts. Before, it was possible to get cities by inciting revolutions, owning the egalitarian act, or (duh...) demanding one. Now, you cant, and version 1.03 is available again, at http://members.aol.com/wvrs4/final_occ.zip
Tell me if you can win, cos I'm struggling...

Thanks Markos, but redstar1 is right, the link doesn't work
For now, try my website : http://members.aol.com/wvrs4/
Go through it to the CTP2 download section and click on the OCC scenario.
Markos, how do I get into the CTP2 links section ? My site will be expanding quickly this summer

Yeah I got it off your website. Haven't had time to play much of it but it looks pretty nasty! Nice wee island to start on though.

Niec one, impossible now actually means it! I enjoyed it right up to 2000AD, when the French bombers and tanks finally wiped out my remaining infantry. I only managed to kill 1 civ too!
I did notice that both Geometry and Alchemy took much longer to research than everything else. Maybe a typo crept into advance.txt (damn those Gipper-Frogs, they always get into my programming too). The military upkeep costs was also annoying, now that there's only one city, and pollution unhappiness forces the production down.
Nevertheless, I intend to actually survive next time!

I'm glad people are enjoying it, it was meant to be hard. I never even killed a civilisation on Hard! I'll check out that typo in advances.txt, and maybe reduce military costs a bit. Thanks for the feedback

When (if?) I have time I'll give it a try too, sounds like a challenge and I like challenges
Name for your site? Let's see... The Way of the Wombat, The Wombat Files, Wombat's Wonderful Webpage (WWW), Wombat's Embassy, Wombat's Online World! (WOW!), Immortal Downloads, Immortal Portal, Call to Immortality, need I continue? You picked a great username, very suitable to make variations on for names of websites/mods/etc. How *did* you come up with it anyway? It's brilliant...

Hee hee, I wondered when someone would ask that
It arose from a very boring coach journey on which a couple of my friends were discussing possible comedy sketches. Then something in my twisted mind chucked up the idea of a pun on Mortal Combat. How about Immortal Wombat? So was born super-hero wombat, who can never die, but partakes in a mission to avenge the death of his father, by defeating the evil emperor of Wales, Jhe Kou Chong, and various russian zombies on the way.
Just a bit of mad rambling really, based on one dodgy rhyme. But if anyone does know someone who works for a cartoon producer, I probably have the script for the first two series somewhere...
Thanks for the suggestions Locutus. All of them are suitably cheesy

Hey, will the OCC work with the MedMod II? I really like all of they changes Wes is making to the game, and it would be really nice to be able to use those changes in the OCC! Thanks for your help everyone!

I don't think OCC will run with MedMod or ModSwapper at the moment. I will make a MedMod compatible version some time.
Gimme 24 hours and it'll be up at The Way Of The Wombat
Better download MedMod now

I just tried using the scenario with the MedMod and it seemed to work, is it just that it won't use any of the enhancements that the mod implements? By the way IMO, thanks for a challenging scenario! It looks almost impossible!

Now available at The Way of the Wombat, is a MedMod compatible version of the OCC scenario. I am unable to bug-test it, but I don't think there should be any potential problems.
If there are, I will try to solve them as soon as possible, so that as many people as possible can try to win this scenario.
Have fun.

Re: Way of the Wombat
Good choice on the name
You may want to change the link to http://members.aol.com/wvrs4/ctp2/ctp2dl.htm or rename the html file index.html though, if I open the link now I end up in a folder rather than on your actual homepage. Doesn't really matter but I don't think you intended it this way (kinda renders the html page useless)...

Thanks for the MedMod version IMO! Someone should create a thread to list scores from the OCC on. This way we could have something to judge how well we did against. Just a thought!

If anyone would like me to post their scores in a new thread email me the information, such as score, number of civs, and any other information you wish to be posted, and I will put it up. My email is wendell777@hotmail.com. If you would like screenshots of the end of your game put up email them to me as well.

It looks like I got a problem. I down loaded the medmod version and when I load it I get all kind of slic errors. The game will come up but the first thing I can build is a settler, so I know it's not working right.

I'm checking that out now preacherman. A lot of the problems can be solved by adding the lines from the OCC scen_str.txt and put them into the MedMod scen_str.txt. Others I think are caused by a conflict between the Elite units code, but I will look into that further, and post an update at The Way of the Wombat
Edit: Right, it should be fine now... The SLIC is loading fine, but my version of MedMod isn't, so I'm not 100% confident. Give it a go.

Ben, redownloaded the medmod version from your web site, but when I loaded it into the game and start new game ran into a problem. When you select scenario the first screen comes up. But when you go to the next screen the only choice you have is the origanel one. There is not one for medmod.
I went back and down loaded the file again and reloaded it into the game. Still the same problem. I ck the file folder and the proper documentation seem to be there. Hope you can help me

Grrrr
I'm having some difficulties uploading to my site. I tried again, and the Medmod version (though not neccessarily the both versions .zip file) should work. If not, mail me, and I'll send them to you.
I just checked another time. If the folder is called scen0001, try renaming it to scen0000.
