People have reported on the official board that their old saved games are working.
I'm not going to risk it yet, but there it is.

I really recommend this patch. The game seems much better now. Wars are harder because they refuse to give up land as easily, and bad boy is reduced!

Argh I hate not being able to buy off members of the military alliance with white peace anymore, other than that it's great!

Heh, I don't know if it's because I upped the difficulty to normal or if it's the patch, but both times that I've been part of an alliance war, the enemy keeps demanding money from me.
And this is when we've had absolutely no military contact with each other.

It's the patch .
Military enemies are much less willing to accept peaces that are detrimental to them and will only sign if there is no hope in sight! It really makes the game cool.
Playing as Russia, I took Tula and Kursk when Poland declared war on me. Instead of giving me Tula as a Peace deal, they fought back, took both back, then tried to take the war to my soil. Then they offered me a white peace, when it was obvious no one was going anywhere... It was awesome!

Saves still work, but they didn't fix some of the tiny bugs I was hoping for...

That is why there will be a v1.09
Oh, and old save games don't have the benefits of 1.08. Only new games do. Save games are still based on 1.07c stuff.

I have the same problem, downloaded patch 1.08 UK version. EU cannot recognise CD after installing the patch!!!
Has anyone else sorted this out?

The solution:
Install one more copy of EU in another directory, and copy the old (1.07c) version of eu.exe back in the original(1.08) EU folder. This will get you past the no-CD bug. The intro movie had some sound problems, but the game started at least. Hopefully it wont create any problems for play.
HoweverI am not sure will it cancel (some/all) effects of the 1.08 download, but it is worth a try until the official soulution comes out.

Hmmm, I don't know. I DLed the North American version (of course).
Perhaps you should ask on the main site?
