				To Chairman Mao

Hehe, hi, what's up? Ming's already suspected us of being DLs, but he knows we're not. But I was hoping we could play a little joke on the OTFers (Off-Topic posters). If you're game, you can find my AIM, e-mail, and ICQ # in my profile. C'mon, it'll be fun |

What outcry? All I remember was some 12-year old getting flamed for his age
Anyway, it's your choice Chairman, some people might get mad, but it doesn't matter, it's only the internet right?

What outcry?Well, how about multiple threads in multiple forums with over half the people DEMANDING that he change his name, or that the Admin make him do it. Yes, there was "one" flaming case, but there was far more complaining and demanding than just him.

So come on, stop by the OTF Chairman...

			This is former-Chairman Mao speaking.

**To Ming : please close the Chairman Mao account when you get the chance.

I breezed through the forums really quickly to find any trace of "Mao" but didn't see any at first glance. I didn't mean to come up with a Username so similar to somebody else's because I know it can get confusing.

I also don't want people to get all offended. I feel like my personality while playing Civ is most similar to Mao, that's why I chose it. Though I must confess I am a pro-democratic, pro-capitalist white American...to clear up any concerns you might have concerning my character. I do not endorse Mao or any of his actions outside of the Civ games.

Disclaimer: I apologize if the name "HAL" offends anyone who did not enjoy 2001: A Space Odyssey , or feel threatened that a maniacal supercomputer may one day control their life. |

Yeah, c'mon Chairman, why not? Besides, they'll all think you're a DL anyway. Just have a bit of fun, and then you can leave.

Yeah, just what we need on the OTF... More Fun
Mao... I noticed you didn't warn him about the reaction his name might cause there.
While you have always gotten off the hook by saying Mao is a common name, Chairman Mao may just raise the same out cry that Albert Speers caused |

Uhhh...CtG, you realize that you complaining about other people's spam actually makes more spam than the original spammers. That's like someone in the movies screaming out "SHUT UP!" to everyone else. They make more noise. And I've been here longer than you anyway, nothing new.

			Should I respond to this…
Let me think…

All I can say is that I wish that the Albert Spear had gone so well . Actually, I didn't know that Chairman Mao even existed before reading this forum. (sorry HAL)

Geez Adam, you sound like an old hag. Just let people have some fun, live and let live geez. You know what, you probably don't know the first thing about Chairman Mao anyway. All you know is what the western media teaches you, like the Cultural Revolution. But what you don't know is how he actually improved the lives of peasants greatly, but no, you don't care about that do you? As long it's good for America, you don't give a damn about how much Mao helped the Chinese people, you only care whether or not he's an enemy of the US. And who else do you want to lead China? Chiang Kai-Shek? Yeah, OK, maybe you should read up a bit on his government. Corruption as far as the eye can see. It's not a coincidence Mao had the support of majority in taking power and Chiang was hated by the commoners for making an elite upper class.

			Mao:
I think you took what I said wrong. I didn't meen to be hostile. I broke down what I said below, and put a little explanation.

I was talking about the comments on the albert speer arguement made above.

I was kidding. I didn't meen to emply that I was planning to protest. I (persionally) am not offended by the title 'Mao' (or 'Chairman Mao'). Since both of you have said that your handle is totally civ based, I can't find any reason to complain. Even if you didn't, I wouldn't complain. If someone was truely offended, and they came up with a good enough reason, then I might take their side, but I don't care enough to start the battle on my own.

Pretty much, I don't mind your (mao's) handle, nor Chairman Mao's. I was just making a comment to indicate that I had read this thread. I didn't mean to say anything else.

While I'm here, I might as well say that I think that what HAL did was very apropriate. Not that I hold any bad fealings tward mao for not changing his handle, but that HAL deserves recognition for what he did.

Mao: If you are still offended, then tell me why, because I can't figure out what I did that is wrong.

Never mind, I'm happy, you're happy, we're all happy
I just wished he'd have waited like a week before changing so we could've screwed around a bit with OTFers |

And I'm glad he changed it when he did, before "playing some games" with the OTF

Do we see a pattern? The OT goes down: People flock to other forums.
Prehaps they should randomly take the OT down on purpose to stimulate intrest in other forums.
