Vote for Slaver
In my last game it was the slaver unit til I built Emancipation Proclamation. I had much fun to enslave my neighbours. OK the ai started, but it was on war with me anyway. In the later game I use the spy/cyber ninja unit to by buy foreign cities but that not so funny as enslaving.

I must say, that no other unit in the history of Civ games ever game me more satisfaction than the Eco-Ranger and his ability to Nanite-Cleanse.

So true Skeeve. There is no better feeling that returning a 20-size city and 15 units to a pile of organic dust
I might make a scenario where you start with just a 10 space planes, 20 eco-rangers, and 20 enemy cities...
Mmmm, ero-rangers...

Arrrg, Martin you took my avatar thing.
my vote goes to slaver simply because they make really good early spies, allowing you to scout out the enemy.

I'll have to go with a slaver. I found him (them) most useful as a reckon unit early in the game -- slaving abilities I consider a bonus

Heh! where are the Noble and other MedMod units? Oh well, of these choices I'd say the Slaver (at least in the unmodded game). If you exploit slavery properly you won't even need any of the other units, you'll have won the game before they come available (except maybe for the Cleric).

early game, it's got to be slavers, especially so when combined with armies. it's more realistic, POWs. I mean how'd the slaver raid the city without the garisons being able to do anything??
later, corporate branches and subneural ads

I'll stick to my vote on Eco-Rangers, but I will say one thing in defense of Slavers -- at least they can be re-used.
Eco-Rangers are a one shot deal... but oh what a shot, indeed!

but to just destroy a city..... such a waste.....
slaver is the best. always include them in any group of army, even garrison

Its a tossup...either the
Spy, mainly because their vision radius gives ample warning if anything is coming your way.
Or the Slaver because it gives you so much production/growth benefits, plus it makes a great recon.
Gotta go with the Slaver though!

Me, I never use Slavers. To evil. Though having said that, I have no qualms about using Eco-Rangers (my favourite unit) nanite cleansing, and earlier today I nuked 3 Russian cities to the ground, and captured Mosco (Conquering them) because they didn't like me much (For NO reason)

what do you mean pesky? this are like one of the coolest things available to get more production. i usually have like a legion of them out, draining resource from every city in the world.
it's do wonders to your economy, at the expence of others. in short, for me, any unit that increases resource productivity is good, including clerics and televangelists, though clerics are better to annoy the enemy (reform costs are high)

Ups I didn't noticed I turned them off, but in the meantime I found the CTP1 UFO in the avatar list, that's great. I wonder how they mde them. Coppying from CTP1 *.tga images with a black background? Slaver is a good decision, I it creates lot of fun in the game, I should make a mod that add them to the later game.

The CTP1 tgas were made by Locutus, by taking the black bachground off, and making it transparent. The CTP2 avatars took longer, because I had to take them off the brown tga background...

In PSP you should be able to create a transparent-background window, which you can paste your avatar into. Then export it as a *.gif, go to the transparency wizard and follow the instructions. This should make a nice transparent background. (It will look white/brown checkers)

I do the same thing when playing the computer. Send them all over the world.
Against human opponents I go for the slaver.

I like the Abolitionist, because with everyone else going about and slaving, there's a nice big stock of slaves to mooch off of.

Well, Slavers are cool but I think the Infector is pretty neat too......being able to plague a city.....just neat!
P.S.>
A Brain Teaser:
One time I played CTP2 and I had only 4 or 5 cities, the next turn I had over 20. Not a drop of blood was shed nor was a spy used.
I had hardly any money. How did I do it?
True story.......
