Hey all I'm back! And just in time for my turn, or is BerXpert in after me?? Either way it's fairly close does anyone mind if I go after him?
Now to read all the chronicles. Bloody hell! I'll just read the last few

OOPS.
When I sent the file to BerXpert, I forgot that little "mx" at the end of his e-mail address, and it bounced back undeliverable.
I have forwarded the file to the correct address.
BerXpert - let us know if you got it.
Sorry, my fault.
Please extend BerXpert the usual 72 hours from this point forward.
- Skeeve
(Any grumblings, I'll take 48hours off my next turn )

Welcome back Darkknight. Immortal Wombat is next in line after BerXpert and then you're after Wombat.
Due to the VivalaCTP2 maneuver, our science is skyrocketing!

NEWS!!!
BerXpert II is the first Aussy inmigrant that win a democratic election.
From Mexican father and English mother, his first diplomatic issue was sign a cease of fire with Mexico and England in 1910.
By that year, all the submarines were sent back to protect the australian ocean.
All units were set to "on alert" and the public works reduced to 10%
New mines ordered near Snorf to increase its production.
By the year of 1911 the war started with Nicaraguans, when they destroy 2 infantry fortified near Glascester. More units arrived, maybe from and old order, they were old and obsolet. All were masacred in Glascester, 2 catapults and some pickmens... all finish in 1914.
Time for a better army!
English ships pass near Apolyton in 1916, but passing trough without incident.
This year of 1916 were recived from Indonesians the tech of Modern medicine and tank warfare. All cities change from artillery to tanks.
Near Matagalpa by december of 1916 a ship of the line destroyed nicaraguan troops aprooching San Carlos.
One of the first ships that left australia tousands of years ago were destroyed by cannions near Rosita in january of 1918. First tank built in San Carlos by june 26th of 1918.
On May 1st of 1919 peniciline is approved at the laboratories of Snorf to bring more healt to the people.
By the elections of september of 1919 is built the first airplane. BerXpert rejected the option to be reelect in favor of Immortal Wombat.
Finally at December 24th of 1919, as a chrysmas gift, indonesians sent the Vertical Fligth Aircraft, and the first Cargo Helicopter is set in queue, maybe some day the tanks that will destroy Nicaragua will be carged by this one.

Nice Job Berxpert,
It looks like we'll be rolling over the world "Tanks" to you!
Hmm... I predict a cold war between the two superpowers... The Aussies and the Indonesians.
Should get interesting.

Well, I think I had played the file 3 days ago...
but remeber that there is a rule that you can't post if you have not sent the file to the next player.
I did both. I think Immortal Wombat had the file, as he had not said a word maybe he is still playing it
But of course if you want I can send the file again or to the next player.
I'll put the file on a server so every one can take a look:

Okay...
Highlights from A Biography of Senator Wombat, his life and times- 1920 - Wombat comes out on top of the 1920 elections, but his critics claim he is an unsettling influence on the country. Troops and navy movements. The "Diggers" army of San Carlos makes the only memorable event of this year, joining with modern troops to form the "Truckers" regiment, and killing a nicaraguan settler and its artillery escort.
- 1921 - Tank production stepped up on the main Australian island.
French offer to swap maps, and we agree, but with little worth.
- 1922 - We discover corporate republic, and, admidst much scandal, and claims of selling out to major multi-nationals. Wombat tells them to "get stuffed". Our new research target are computers. Wombat judges science too slow, and endeavours to find a way to increase it. Later in the year, the 9-strong "Truckers" army enter Juigalpa, but faced with 12 defenders, catapults, cannons, infantry and a machine gunner, they retreat quite hurridly, taking heavy losses, but with 2 tanks, 2 artillery and a cannon surviving the onslaught. In the north, a tank from NS-Jonnyopolis is loaded onto a ship for transport south.
- 1923 - PW -> 20%. The english establish an embassy with us. Wombat, persuing his ambition not to be know as the President who only discovered one thing swaps our knowledge of Corporate Republic for the Indonesians knowledge of Naval Aviation.
- 1924 - A fighter 'plane, and two carracks, each with tank, approach a rendez-vous point south of Castaway.
- 1925 - AUSTRALIA IS A CORPORATE REPUBLIC - Long live Corporate Australia
production, science and gold revenue all increase again. Wombat is the de facto first president of the new goverment, but announces elections to take place in 5 years time.
- 1926 - Ethiopians request we withdraw. We withdraw. The fighter, unofficially dubbed "Wings" by would-be comedians, now heads south to the warz0one of Nicaragua, as the first australian air force. Meanwhile, the navy takes a blow, as our SotL there is lost to an enemy sub
- 1927 - Castaway RB's a tank. English settlers land between NZ and NSJ. They are quickly expelled.
- 1928 - NZ RB's a tank. Also Xpertland completes a tank, and it is rolled south to the waiting transport ship, moored outside Roo Town. The ship moves south to NZ to pick up the other tank. The tank at Castaway is loaded onto a carrack, and the two head to Matagalpa. We again contact the Indonesians, and buy the secret of Radar for 500 gold. Someone tries to steal tech from NZ, but are folied. The english are #1 suspect. Then the Greeks contact us, requesting an exchange of maps. In the interests of goodwill, Wombat agrees. In the same year, a major victory for the Wombat administration, as we become allied to the Indonesians.
- 1929 - Iratland, one year behind schedule, also finishes a tank, and emergency measures are taken, and the carrack on the south coast is used. Unfortunatly, this can only get the tank to NSJ, and won't catch up with the troopship until next year at the earliest. Within just another year, six tanks will be heading south to the front, and the war can begin in earnest!
I was thinking, what are the chances that on Deity level, we are going to take out 9 more civilisations in 300 more turns? Possibly we could do it, but never before in a CtP game have the other civs liked me this much, and perhaps we should take the oppurtunity of a combined conquest/suck-up tactic to go for the Gaia Controller? With the Indonesians allied, we probably only need to destroy or ally two, maybe three more civilsations to acheive the capabilities of covering 60% of the map. Just a thought...

1930: PEACE!
Sources has confirmed that the Corporate Republic of Australia has declared peace; with Ethiopia, Zulu, Mexico and England. Carol Murphy
reports:
Earlier today GreenHouse sources among them the Chief of Staff Toby Bush and Press Secretary Rose Olivia Tomson released information on
President Darkknights new ground-breaking foreign affairs stance. Mr. Bush stated that the President was " For Peace and Prosperity with
foreign powers ". However he refused to comment on the escalating violence with Nicuragua.
Along with the four peace treaties a trade pact has been signed with the Americans.
Mr. Bush also commented on the research trade made with the Ethiopians, English, Native Americans and the Greek. We are repported to
have sold Mass Media, Corporation, Adv. Naval Tactics and Communism for a total of £22500.
1931: Air Force Strikes For Freedom!
The AAF has reportedly destroyed a Nicuraguan Catapult west of Managua.
Citizens are outraged at the increased Work Day with Ration increase doing little to cool their tempers. Entertainers have been hired to
try and help the situation in the worst affected areas.
4 Catapults and 3 Cannons have bombarded the Truckers and Wyrd Sisters outside Jugalpa. 2 Artillery units from the Truckers where lost
but the pennant still flies proud.
1934: Other news in brief now, the AAF has destroyed a trrop ship off the Managua coastline. And on a personal note if anyone sees a three
legged gray and white labrador missing one eye and an ear could you please post him to the Times Culinary section.
1935: AAF Forces reportedly destroyed a longboat off the Managua coastline.
1936: From Sea to Shining Sea!
President Darkknight has today revealed construction plans for a large Carrier group to protect the seas and pound our enemies. The
group will have when finished in 1940; Four bombers one fighter and one battleship escort with a promise of a further PT boat to come.
" The plans have been in place since 1931 and have so far proceeded to schedule ", boasted President Darkknight.
1939: Gloucester Captured!!
Early Yesterday morning Australian forces moved in to seize control in the Nicuraguan town of Gloucester! The force of 5 Tank Brigades
Sailed from the Australian mainland over 8 years earlier. No losses on our side where recorded.
Rootown Rebellion: Overjoyed with the news citizens in Rootown have reportedly gone on a two-night Pub crawl. Entertainers have been
hired to try and keep them off the streets but in a town with over 300 pubs anything could happen.
1940: The President is DEAD!!
In the late hours of yesterday night Darkknight while overseeing plans to launch the carrier group was assasinated by a Nicuraguan
infiltrator. The traitorous pig was killed when in a cowardly attempt to flee the heroic Iratland Metropolitan Police ran in front of
the carrier as she started to slide into the sea. An ironic death you might think but really down to the fool taking the wooden supports
to try and protect himself.

Sounds like we're on our way to a diplomatic victory!
Is the AAF called "Wings" by any chance, or is that just too obvious?

Well we've come a long way from the days of Boredom when Snorf and the surrounding cities were isolated from all other civs.
I wonder if a diplomatic victory is possible immediately by "bullying" the other nations into an alliance. (Then again, we might not be that powerful yet).

I only just got the file this morning. Seems Shane had internet troubles the other day, and when he saw I hadn't posted, quite correctly re-sent the file. I will play it soon, ie within a few hours.

Guys,
I have just attemted to play the game file. However, it is big and slow. It is effectively unplayable on my computer. So I have fowarded it to David. I hope he has better fortune than I. The game really is too big and I am not the first to drop out due to speed. It stopped been fun last turn. I doubt that this game is worth playing further....
Succession games for this game should be restricted to smaller maps.
However, for those that can still play the thing, good gaming!
Sean.

How large is the file now?
And how long does each turn take?
We're still playing 10 turns, right?

The file is 500kb, in my home PC (PIII-500) takes to AI 5 minutes each turn, in my laptop (PIII-850) is still "normal" 1-2 minuts.
And yes, we still play 10 turns.

Doesn't sound good for me....My home pc is a celeron-400.
If it takes 5 mins on your P2-500, I'm sure it'll take longer on mine
But I'll probably give it a shot and see what happens.

Sorry guys, but I will have to drop out!
I'm getting ready to start uni in three weeks, and I am working right up until the week before!
I am getting really excited about Civ3 though. Be sure to email me when you set up a succession game for Civ3.
Until I see you again, goodbye and good luck...it's been fun!
(Oh, and CTP2 isn't that bad, either! )

I guess we're pretty much down to whoever has the fastest computers.
Anyway, with Civ3 on the horizon, we should try to find each other again once everyone gets over their New Game Euphoria, and start a CIV3 succession game, as has been suggested.
We could call it the "CIV 3 Succession Game for former CTP2 players". I'm sure other Civ3 successions will start up, but I hope we can all get together again. I think we all share a kind of brotherly comradery here which is all the more interesting because it transcends international boundries.
I hope we can somehow finish off our present game before CIV3 actually hits the shelves. After that point, I doubt we'll have any interest in CTP2 at all.
