2115 sent on a few hours ago.
Looks like it will be a long time before anyone but the PK's ever gets a breakthrough.
They were wise to hold off on tech trades!

MY 2115 sent to Mark13
I encountered an already existing monolith on your Builder map. Did you place those or does it mean I'm close to another faction? Hopefully not the Believers.

I think they're placed, though the possibility that they have been popped by someone else should not be ruled out, I suppose

There are a number of monoliths added around landing sites. These serve as "attractors" to the landing site picking algorhythm the game uses. I adjusted monoliths and land area to make each of the landing sites equally likely to be chosen.
I also added some monoliths in high-fungus areas to help create killer-monster worms! Currently searching for some now!
2116 to Googlie --hope his laptop connection is working.

Not sure if I am holding up this turn, or Solver.
I have a Solver gamesave of 2116 dated August 23rd, and a e-mail message to him that evening, yet DD's post indicates that 2116 was sent to me on August 24th. (I have deleted my august inbasket completely)
DD, can you resend and I'll either play/replay this turn and try to get it moving again

I did indeed send 2116 to you on 8/24. I have re-sent it. After a month of no action and no replies and no posts I assumned this game was dead.

Hmmm - 2116 was the turn i played on August 23rd and sent on to Solver - must have been a west coast 'Poly clock thing
2116 resent to Solver (or will be assuming his e-mail in-tray has room)

Nope - his in-tray is full, giving me the dreaded "Upload aborted" message from AOL (which means that I now can't send another e-mail without logging off and back on - and at $1:50 per call from my hotel this is the last straw.
I am withdrawing from all games I am in with Solver.

Solver's rating scheme was the inspiration for this game and Solver has obviously dedicated many hours into keeping track of ratings for many PBEM players. He must be out of town or otherwise incommunicado. Let's give him another chance here.

Yeah, but meanwhile nothing happens. Perhaps big_canuk can spring in again?

DD:
It's a pettern here (see the thread on Faction Strife. Again Solver follows me in that game, and maybe 4 times in the last month his box is full. Last time, Mis suggested that I send via ICQ - that's full, then she suggested attaching to the thread itself, and sending him a PM - couldn't do that either - (his PM box was full). I senyt an ICQ message and finally he downloads from the thread.
Clearly in this game he just didn't download the August 23rd turn I sent (2116) and now I have nowhere to resend.
When I am on the road wrestling with dial-up modems at $1:50 per connection I just don't need the hassle. His full box toasts my ability to send via AOL for that session, requiring an exit and redial.
Just not worth it.

Note that his last update of the ladder was June 13th, so I don't think too many hours have been spent recently

Solver --you are hereby put on notice --you need to clean up your act. What do you have to say for yourself?

Downloaded this.
Mailbox looks to be fuc*ed up by GameStats again.
PMs will be fixed shortly.
ICQ is the best way - activated each day at least twice. Email is also checked at least twice, but only when it works .
Googlie, as for the ratings - I had technical problems then, and something else after it. I really hate to say this, though.
But each update requires at least 3 hours, if you mind it . Also, there are my Apolyton administration duties.
No,no, I'm not defending myself here, just answering to what has been said above .

In other words, you have no functioning e-mail. Ipso facto, you cannot be participating in PBEM let alone administrating it.

Suggestion - get a hotmail address or something. There isn't much point in playing PBEM games without a functioning e-mail address

Solver:
I have no objection to hanging the turn on the threadpost and ICQ'ing you separately that it's there. It's no slower than e-mailing you the turn and posting the notification.
After you have downloaded it from the thread, is it removed, or do all prior turns still hang there? And does that make loading the thread slower? What would happen if we all dispoensed with e-mails and just attached turns with the thread - would the server get swamped?
I have tried to edit after a turn has been downloaded (to remove the attachment), but that option isn't there. Can the administrator do that? And is it necessary?
I wasn't "picking on you" - just commenting that I am in around fifteen PBEM games, and 2 absolutely crawl, and you are the common element - other than me - in both.

Solver, come on. this is getting ridiculous. Either play the turn or give the password to someone else who is more reliable

reading the thread, I'm, not sure if big_canuck ever got Solver's password - I;ve e-mailed him (b_c) to find out. If so, let's advertise for a replacement. If not, we're doomed.

The whole concept of the game is to set it up between the top rated players for the purpose of getting more ladder data to Solver. This is because many of the ratings in the ladder are based on only one or two games.
I just don't understand how Solver could be "too busy" to play a PBEM designed to support his own rating system. Excuses about his e-mail system are gone --the turn is right there waiting for him to pick up and he is nowhere to be found for 11 days!
I guess the point is that if Solver has lost interest in SMAC, then there is not much point to the game, unfortunately.

I got all the passwords from the disorganized rest of you, but none from Solver. I'll try and ask him for it in-game in Faction Strife (an as yet untried means of communication, that may prove fruitful, in the face of fruitless effort).
Holding my breath!
