A few new details for me

Music:

Very fitting music to the tone of the game would be a nice Beethovenesque symphony, which would not only highlight the refined art, but also the grandiose strategy of empire building that theCiv series is known for.

As well as great detail in animation (broken spears!!!), 170 frames for each of over 60 units.

Better continent generation system, city workers management,

multiplayer options revealed:

Dedicated to replayability and long-term value, Civ III will feature multiplayer for the first time, through hotseat as well as online play, and though specifics are not yet known, the team was ecstatic about their great new ideas.

And it is 85% complete according to the review: . With the game being about 85% complete, Civ III looks well on its way to being another of the best games of a year that is quickly looking to be the best in gaming history.

Cool,

Only that it doesn't mention the option to have more than 7 civs
(i would be suprised if this is still optional with the game so near to completion, they mention this Fall as the release timeframe)

Are you modders doing your cartwheels in escasty right now? Because the preview hinted that the game will be mod-friendly!!

And I drooled when I read about the more realistic random map generator! YEEEESSSS!!!!!

This is starting to get interesting...

I think the reviewer was unnaturally positive in his writing... hopefully he was not being sarcastic.

Besides, hotseat multiplayer is in, so I can only wait for more "6pm-3am" Civ sessions I've had with some friends. Too bad I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see that E3 footage... I consider my school's broadband line a better alternative than my home connection.

Two quotes (my underlining):

Quote:
Following the recent trend of announcing games years after work has begun (in order to build momentum and hype, and not lose it with years of waiting), Civ III should hit stores this fall.
Quote:
With the game being about 85% complete, Civ III looks well on its way to being another of the best games of a year that is quickly looking to be the best in gaming history.
