Upcoming Game Update
Most likely there will be a game update coming soon. Let's just hope so at least. What are some of the things you would like answered? I know I would like to find out if the 16 civs is true.

16 civs at a time? Multiple unique units per civ? Civs which are in/out. Minor civs. Tentative release estimate.

Yeah, updates come out 1 every 2 months, at least so far. I'd like a little more info on how combat will work, espec. air combat. Will we have "hanging bombers"? Can they pillage ala SMAC? Target structures in cities? That sort of thing.
Plus some info on espionage would be nice.

- SMAC like alliances? (garrison allied cities etc)
- A list of wonders/functions, and explained minor wonders.
- A BETA.

Some clear info on MINOR CIVS! Will there be any, or is this just another name for the barbarians? If so, how will they function, and what will their limitations be? Will one be able to have diplomatic relations, treaties, etc., with them? If some of a major civ's cities rebel, will they be able to form a separate new minor civ?
To me, this will be crucial to the depth and realism of the game. Tell us, Firaxis!

What I would like in Game Update
I would like to see more of:
1. A more in-depth idea on how the Combat system will work
2. A list of some of the civ-specific units, and some of their abilities.
3. An Expected Release date!!!
4. An in-depth idea of what will the minor civs be, and how they will work.

I would like to see in the next news article stuff on:
- interface
- combat
- Map Editor stuff, but that would be something they would work on near the end when the games already made
- explanation about different victory conditions
- anouncement for an open beta
- new diplomacy options if there are any

Don't put much weight into any release date that isn't declared by Firaxis or Infogames. Firaxis Dan has complained in past threads of early release dates by companies, even when they were direct-sale titles, meaning the companies claiming release dates weren't even able to sell the game. The only likely release ideas are the previews which only give Winter as a release time. Though Dec 21 is the first day of winter, so maybe I'll have Civ3 for Christmas anyway

Well I would certainly be interested in how battles take place. This stacked combat sounds interesting for example, and some information on some of the ranged units as well, stuff like that. Combat is interesting...

Maybe we could get a little slide show for stacked combat like we got for ressources.

Fellow Civ'ers,
I'd like to see them tell us about the AI's new military Strategy and tactics.
I not talking about a combat screen or stacking. I'm talking about things like
Air power strategies, naval fleets being aircraft carrier oriented, modern tactics
with modern weapons, etc.
Cavin forever,
Dennis

I'd like to know about Great Leader:
Firaxis already mentioned about military leader (but I'd like to know more detail about their effects), but mentioned Great Artist/Scientist are in game test, do decide if implement them or not.
I surely want Civ 3 be different from a full dedicated wargame, hence I hope Firaxis voted for Great Artist/Scientist included in game.
Please Firaxis, give us more detail about them!

I was recently thinking of this same thing, and all the great ideas that we've heard a little bit of, but may be discarded in the end. I know some people were complaining of the wonders like Copernicus' Lab and Shakespeares Theatre, and this would be a definitely improvement...to have a lab and get Copernicus, or likewise with Shakespeare, plus that'd free up the wonders which are now fewer.

They could at least update the question & answers section + perhaps adding a few extra screenshots. At least one screenshot should reveal something more about the interface.

I've already emailed them what I want to know, I want to know about editing graphics
But I actualy wanted to post about stealths, because I see a few stealth avatars here, and I remembered I read that cell phone (mobile, whatever) satelites can spot stealths.
So now stealths are only half as good as they used to be
oh well

I for one would not believe that story. Every Gov. on Earth has a satellites schedule. If we needed to move something, we always waited until the satellite past overhead. Before the aircraft took off there would be a pre-flight briefing and they would discussed anything that could interfere with their mission.
Let's play at this game. A group of B-2s has a mission in a non-friendly country. Another non-friendly has a satellites schedule to fly over country no. 1 at the same time our B-2s will be flying over. You know darn well country no. 2 is going to pass that information to country 1, just to see if country 1 can shoot down any of the B-2s. And boy if they did, what a scoop for country 1.

Every government on Earth has a satellite scedule, yes, but they can only avoid the satellites they think have cameras. The problem is, there are so many hunks of metal in orbit by now that it is nearly impossible to find any time when no satellites at all are overhead. It's a game of chances; how many satellites will do fly-bys in the time it takes to do what we need to do, and what is the probability that one of them has an unannounced camera tucked away on it?
