I would prefer civ 2.5 to something stupid
I think most of you have very unrealistic ideas about what this game will be like. You have wasted so much time on wishful suggestions you are bound to be disappointed.

I would prefer civ 2.5 to something "daring" that looks pretty but won't play as good.

Let's learn the lesson of Call to Power!

C'mon AH, this is the 21st century, the Third Millenium! We must have a Civ to fit the occasion.

Well said, Horsie!

We should have a game that is good to play first and then see where the radical ideas can fit in. We should be cautious with changing Civ, and make slow changes. Culture and resources are advancing Civ without destroying the underlying game.

CIVER'S WISHES

I agree totally with AH.

Among the many suggestions and wishes voiced in this forum, most are concerned with improvement of existing feature/system rather than replacement with a new one. Top of priority includes better AI, tuning down certain WOWs, and Democracy and Fundy. None of these are revolutionary, but together they represent such a refinement of civ2 that many people will be content that such is civ3(civ2.5?).

Note that suggestions like Social Engineering, Minor Civ, Unit Workshop, Stacked Combat, etc never generate much concensus among civers, and there is no indication that their implemention will make civ3 FUNNIER. I think that civ3 better concentrates on refinement on civ2 rather than something revolutionary or the beautiful but pointless graphics.

Civ2 has earned its status as Classical Strategy Game through the test of time. If we want civ3 to be durable, we better maintain the backbone of civ2 rather than ambitiously jettisoning the well tested features.
