When I played OCC9 I got philosophy froma hut while I was researching it. For my next tech I picked epublic, and I didn't get it free. So if I ever play Sid Mier, I'm going to make him give me the Republic

are you sure you didn't chose a new tech the turn after which is usually the case when discover phil from a hut, either that or one of the crazy bugs that always appear when you least expect it

me too.Normally when I've found it I got the freebie next turn but not this time.I found it in 1900BC(I think) but next tech(construction) wasn't until 1800BC.
