I remember reading BOR a LONG time ago! The is also a less well written book parodying Star Wars. (can't remember what it was called).

gosh, I had completly forgotten that I had read Bored of the Rings. That quote about the ballhog stirred a memory I at least remember reading Lord of the Rings and even watching the animated version *pauses and looks around, checking to see if he accidentally offended any Tolkien devotees* As for that a star wars parody, its probably not what your trying to think of but there's always Mel Brooks' movie version, Spaceballs

The difference between HP and LOR is that while Rowling has created a wonderful world, Tolkien discovered and revealed a great one, which seems to have existed before he first thought of it.
