Newbie end-game question
Here's a question about end-game strategy, in a game I'm finishing right now:
I'm playing at warlord level, 7 empires (six are left), raging hoards, large map, and am currently a fundamentalist government. I'm probably 15 turns from the end of the game (space race ending); I've conquored every land mass on which I have cities, and thus have a reasonably large war machine, though it would have to cross an ocean to be of any more use. I'm technically at war with two empires, but they're too weak to be a concern. Now, the question: in the last 10-15 turns, would you (a) improve happiness as best you could while continuing sacking the cities of your enemies, or (b) switch back to democracy, use your UN to make peace, and jack up your happiness levels, or (c) do something else altogether? It may help to know that no one's built the Manhattan Project or even has the tech to do so, and no one's likely to before the game ends.
I'll be done with the game before I read replies, and may even play it both ways; I'd be curious to hear what others think, though, and why. TIA.

Jack up the happiness, regardless of being at war.
I've never had any problems keeping my people happy when at war with other Civs, just jack it up as high as it can go.
Anyway, unless you have built the Statue of Liberty, it could take you quite a few turns to get back to Democracy.

1. Democracy.
allowing:
2. We Love The President Days.
You're not going to conquer the rest of the world in the time available, so you're basically looking at increasing your score as much as possible.

and of course try to discover more stuff and build couple more wonders...
Like the Manhattan Project.
you said you far from getting it but if you switch to democracy, and as you said you have lots of cities (not to mention the warlord level) it wont be a problem to get 5-7 knowledges, and maybe couple Future Techs.

I really have to disagree. Unless you have SDI in every single city, you're just asking for the AI to nuke the living heck out of you if you build MP.
Like everyone else said, you're basically just going for score now. Clean up any pollution you might have, max our your city sizes with WLTPD, and just fix up your land and make it lok nice and perty

Build all the remaining wonders, even those that have become obsolete by know. Points are points . Finish the Manhattan Project on the turn before you land.
Regarding the switch to Democracy, take into account the Revolt Olympiad: revolution can only succceed every fourth turn, the first opportunity being 3850 BC (revolt at the end of 3900 BC or when getting the tech after ending that year).
Make sure happiness is at a max the year BEFORE you land since that's when your score is calculated.

Democracy and increase pop and thereby score with WLPD definantly. But you might could in addition grab a few cities through bribery or attack and help out too

I must mention you that this is warlord level and that the AI is far away (as he said) and generally, if it wasnt warlord it will be better to build it in the day before the landing. as Ribannah said.
