2001 Players Tourney, Round 1, Group C: ARII, BERSERKER, SLOWWHAND, ZYLKA
Good idea to have a thread for each game...
Schedule, post, brag, gripe, etc here.

I had some problems getting Arii's email address correct (an old one from his ICQ at first, then some really bad typing on my part afterwards). I think I sent it correctly yesterday afternoon. I hope that wvernier@sprintmail.com is correct. If not, someone let me know and I will try again. My apologies for the delay...

Saturday afternoon/evening is fine with me. Should we all get a look at the map or keep it a secret? I prefer the latter...

Looks like sat is not going to work since zylka is not available. I can play any night next week after 8:00 ct as long as it is plan in advance.
Let's have everybody post their available time for next week and find a convinient time for everybody.
For myself:
Sunday-Friday: 8:00 pm ct - 12:00pm ct
I may have a game on friday but zylka and berz are also in that game

I'm available Thursday and Friday next week, less the Eurodip at 5:00 pm pst Friday. I'd like to have a look at this map, and have random starting positions.

There are a few more late night spots I'm available, the only one working with Arriis' schedule being Sunday night. Most of the week I can play for a few hours in/around 7:00 pm pst, if that's not too late for y'all.
Cheers

I don't agree with the looking at the map and randmizing starting location. Unless the 3 of you guys wants it. And still I think it's not the intent in this tourney. What's the point in playing a game when 1 has 3 whales and the other is at the pole.
Slowhands/berz when are you available next week?

Zylka, you read the rules.
If you disagreed, or had input, you had much time to say so.
Wanting to look at the map is just this side of ignorant.
Just play the game.
I'm available late afternoon/evening during week, whenever on weekend.

What's the point of playing without randomized positions when only one player has full access to the map, whom has not yet gained my trust? I'm all for set positions and a covered map, if the host picks civ last.
Sloww... I worry about you buddy. You've become an irritable mess, waiting to snap at anyone who even makes a suggestion. Just play the game, and how you used to; smile
Cheers

Class act from Arrii who has just given me a copy of the map in trusting that I won't look at it, and informing me that he will take last pick.
It looks like Monday at 6:00 pm pst is a good time for our first session. All aboard?
Cheers

Arii is always a class act, which is why I felt no hesitation in entrusting him with the map for your group and requesting that he be the host.
I'm relieved to see that the concern is settled.

See you guys on monday around 6:00 pst, 8:00 ct.

When the game opens, there will only be 4 civs to choose from. Just be sure not to choose "randomize" for any of the settings. You shouldn't have any problems with extra techs, either.

I guess I was assuming too many things, in looking at other threads.
No Wonder,city,unit swapping. Right?
Just a Civ game, more or less with "Rah Rules"?

Good 1st session guys.
The following rules were agreed upon:
No tech, city, unit trade.
No alliances.
6 total foreign trade routes with 3 max to 1 civ (per zylka insistance)
Looks like German (berz) and babylonians (arii) got the lucky starts. Roman (zylka) and egyptian (slow) are trailing on the powergraph.
I can typically play twice a week but am already involved on the huge game typically on friday nights. So a 1 hour session like last night may make the game drag for quite some time. If you are not available for more than 2 hours please do not schedule a continuation then. It is better to find a better date for people with limited availability due to mean wives like myself.
For the rest of the week I can play friday night if markus huge game is not on. Also saturday or sunday during the day (8:00 am to 5:00pm ct). Otherwise any night next week.

It was a fairly productive session, 1850bc and myself and slow already ruled out as potential winners
Complaint number one, I had NO nomads or tribes. Number 2, I lost all of my exploring units early on when my first settler was built... amateur mistake. Thirdly, Arrii won't make peace with me. And finally, we would have been able to play for more than an hour if that bastard Zylka didn't have to go so soon.
Keep in touch about continuing... I have this Sunday freed up after a switch to the nightshift, if the rest of you are available.
Cheers

Sunday works for me. Any works for me, because Berzerker will have dusted me before long.
Took me off guard, he did.

Are you really in Central Standard Time? I mean, Daylight Savings Time is in effect in most of the US, but there are some locales that stay on Standard Time, so it is possible, but I am curious...
