Suggestion to download diplomod 1.2
Are you suggesting that I add diplomod to the existing Apolyton packs? I ask because I am not using any diplomod version at the moment.
TIA

In fact original Diplomod made by Dale v3.6 is PART of Apolyton Pack.
My version of IMP. DIPOLOMOD should overwrite it.
You can find it in IMP. Diplomod thread.
Just to note: my last version was 1.15, but Martin Guhnman made better one v1.2 (wich FIXES some MP problems).

Diplomod 1.2 and const.txt
OK; I put the diplomod.slc file in the folder that it seemed it should go in (default/gamedata), noticing that there was no such file in there already for it to replace, but that there is (still) a diplomacy.slc in there.
Is something wrong here? The program still complains about APOL_const.txt and APOLUL_const.txt, neither of which exist either, and still crashes out.

alright, i get the following errors when loading up the apolyton pack and when it gets to the new game screen it's black.
C:\PROGRAM FILES\CALL TO POWER 2\ctp2_data\default\gamedata\APOL_capturecity.slc: 26: No function named DestroyBuilding
C:\PROGRAM FILES\CALL TO POWER 2\ctp2_data\default\gamedata\APOL_capturecity.slc: 47: No function named DestroyBuilding

C:\PROGRAM FILES\CALL TO POWER 2\ctp2_data\default\gamedata\APOL_airunit.slc:75: No function named TileHasImprovement
now, i've read that you have to change the debugslic thing in userprofile.txt to no and you have to have activision's patch. well, here's the thing. i changed it no and i have the activision patch but when i try to install it it tells me that i already have the upgrade and don't need it. so, what do i do?

Geshtar, you don't have original path for CTP2 (version 1.11).
You can download it from Apoyton CTP2 web page.

what do you mean that I don't have the right path? are you saying that my ctp2 is in the wrong directory? I haven't previously installed version 1.1 and my anet.inf file says it's version 1.0.

v1.1 patch possibly.
http://apolyton.net/ctp2/files Go to "official" and get the patch. It adds some SLIC functions to get rid of the errors.

I recently downloaded and installed this mod and I just wanted to thank everyone here at this forum who contributed to it. This is a really great update for the game. Job well done!

As much as I'd like to try the mod - is it compatible to the German version of the game? I remember reading earlier in this thread that there was also a German version around. However, I wasn't able to find it, or maybe I just didn't look hard enough.
Thanks to anyone clearing this up

To get a German version of Apolyton Pack just download the huge pack and install it. Finally start ModSwapper with "Apolyton Pack! CTP2 the way it should be." or "Apolyton Pack! Ultra-gigantic map." and surprise suprise you should start a German version of Apolyton Pack. The reason why you find an English text in ModSwapper is that is picked from the same file. Therefore I didn't translated this little line.

Hm, ok, after downloading the mod and modswapper with some hassle (seem to get Internal Server Errors in the evenings all the time), I unzipped them as required. However, when I want to set up the Modswapper it halts the installation, informing me that I have the wrong version of the Runtime DLL. I suspect it has something to do with Windows ME, providing supposedly better versions. As the installation routine doesn't say which runtime DLL has the wrong version, I will do the following, and please correct me if I am wrong:
- backup the ctp2data directory
- unzip the mods
- remove the "APOL"-prefix from them
- copy them over the orginal gamefiles
Frankly, I could return to Civ3 instead, but I like STP2 and Alpha Centauri a whole lot better.
[EDIT]: Never mind. I took a closer look and realized all I have to do is backup the gamefile.txt and rename the APOL_gamefile.txt to gamefile.txt . Stoopeed me!

And you have to do the same thing with Great_Libray.txt (and newsprite.txt if you not had the original setup before).

Anyway, to explain what I'm on about, I'm trying to use the Apolyton pack. I've followed the instructions as to how to install it:
0. I uninstalled CTP2
1. I reinstalled it
2. I installed the CTP2 1.11 patch
3. I ran the game briefly, creating user-wotsit.txt
4. I edited said file so debugslic=No
5. I installed modswapper
6. I installed pack 1.01 (one file only, unpacked and placed in the top-level folder of the game installation)
7. I installed pack 1.02 (replacing the relevant files in the folder of the same name - i.e., merging with the existing folder)
8. I ran the game, and as the loading bar appears, I get:
"APOLUL_const.txt not found in asset tree"
I press OK, then:
"Could not open APOL_const.txt"
I press OK, then the game crashes and windows tells me it is closing it.
Any ideas? I'm using Windows Me.

Hello.
I have the same problem. Those files do not exist in the zip files, even though they are listed as being changed. I don't know what other zip file or Mod should have been included in the instructions, but those files don't exist and they apparently should (see changes.txt in the 1.02 zip file). BTW I'm running Win 98 SE, but that's really irrelevant. Time to purchase Civ 3? I hate Activision. There is no reason why end-users should have to be trying to fix their game. Oh well. Salud,
Mark

Remember, being using the 1.02 version, you MUST have the 1.01 version installed first. Basically, if your 1.02 version ZIP file is less than 4MG, then it's not the full thing. Download the 1.01 file first.

I downloaded and installed both the 1.01 and 1.02 from this URL: http://apolyton.net/ctp2/
I looked for the 4 meg version you mentioned, and think that this may be the correct URL?: "http://www.apolyton.net/ctp2/files/Mods/"
However, every time I try to download the 4156 KB Apolyton Mod by Dale, I get server errors on either Netscape 4.79 or IE 5.5 SP2.
LMK if I'm on the right track here,
Thanks,
Mark

MarkG posted in one of the first posts in this thread the direct link to it. This should give you the 4MB file:

As I tested the database last time I got a version 1.01 file, too. I think Markos never updated the database about that maybe you find an announcement from Marcos in this thread. But fortunatly I have it on my harddrive. Here is it:

Actually, an upgrade version (v1.01 -> v1.02) is present in the database ( here) but Markos never made it show up in the Files section... (I knew the file was there because of an old news item)
