Nap..... PDT = Pacific ??
Why didn't you just chose one of the 4 options ?

Converted possible playtimes Nap Bonaparte
E. Tues. 03:30 GMT (Mon 22:30 EST) (Mon 19:30 PDT)
F. Wed. 02:30 GMT (Tues 21:30 EST) (Tues 18:30 PDT)
G. Thur. 00:00 GMT (Wed 19:00 EST) (Wed 16:00 PDT)
H. Fri. 03:00 GMT (Thur 22:00 EST) (Fri 19:00 PDT)
I. Sun. 02:00 GMT (Fri 21:00 EST) (Sun 18:00 PDT)
J. Sun. 15:00 -21:00 GMT (Sun 10:00 - 16:00 EST) (Sun 07:00 - 11:00 PDT)

Seems like all these times fall outside the 4 options _carnide and I are available together

(GMT = PDT + 8 = EST + 5) (18:00 GMT = 10:00 PDT = 13:00 EST)
(PDT = GMT - 8 = EST - 3)
(EST = GMT - 5 = PDT +3)

the 4 options _carnide and I could play translated in GMT, PDT and EST:

A. Friday 18:00 - 22:00 EST (15:00 - 19:00 PDT) (23:00 - 03:00 GMT)
B. monday: 12:00 - 15:00 EST (09:00 - 12:00 PDT) (20:00 - 23:00 GMT)
C. thuesday: 12:00 - 15:00 EST (09:00 - 12:00 PDT) (20:00 - 23:00 GMT)
D. wednesday: 02:00 - 05:00 EST (Tue 23:00 - 02:00 PDT) (07:00 - 10:00 GMT)

Nap, you really can't play any of the 4 suggested times _carnide and I suggested ?

If I have to pick one of Nap's times I can only chose H.
In fact all your options are in the middle of the european night
Friday night I can play though.......

Bravelaker, can you PLEASE respond ?

Cavebear, I leave for vacation in 9 days.
Seems like I will drop out then, while I've done my very best to get it organized
I don't think it's fair if I'll get out of vacation while I've done 3 weeks long my very best to get it organized.....

How are the other games going ?
Did they already start ?

Otherwise you should pherhaps try it different, by letting everyone first post their possible playtimes and then create the teams based on these playtimes......

_carnide, Nap and Bravelaker,

please vote for options A B C D or H

Cybershy....your options A,B, and C are right in the middle of my workday. Option D is too late at night. Because of the variation in time zones, I would think that a Sat. or Sun game would be best. I played against Carnide in the last tourny and it wasnt that difficult to get together.

OK - Time Out :)
Even trying to collect everything in a spreadsheet is too complicated as it stands now. Some of the times are given in GMT, some in local Standard time, some in local Daylight Savings time, and some have starting but not ending times.

Please, each player, without discussion, just post your available playing times by day (of starting time) and in GMT. I'll make up a table to compare them.

For example:

Monday - None
Tuesday - GMT 11 pm to GMT 2 am Wednesday
Wednesday - GMT 11 pm to GMT 2 am Thursday
Thursday - None
Friday - GMT 10 pm to GMT 4 am Saturday
Saturday - GMT 6 pm to 10 pm
Sunday - GMT 2 pm to 6 pm

US Eastern Daylight Savings Time is GMT-5, US Pacific Daylight Savings Time is GMT-8. I do not know whether Cybershy and Carnide are on Daylight Savings Time in their countries, but the Apolyton Clock is GMT-5 (Eastern Daylight Time) if that helps.

We'll work this out yet...

So we need to hear from Bravelaker(esp. since he is the host). Are we starting the game within the next 24 hours....ie Sat 200 GMT=Fri. 1800 PDT or are we starting next weekend?

let's start this night then, it's my last change before I leave for vacation. I'll wake up at 3 am and start playing. I'm really insane

Actually that should be "EDT" (Eastern Daylight Time), not "EST". 0200 GMT is 2100 EDT is 9 pm EDT. I only mention that because there are a few small areas that stay on Standard Time and that would be 1 hour earlier.

Hey Deity...we all got together to get this game started and the host(Bravelaker) had a problem with his computer so we couldnt play. Then Cybershy went on vacation for a month. We hope to try this again when Cybershy gets back around Aug. 24th. By the time we finish this game Civ 3 will be out.

In the meantime, I suggest just waiting until Cybershy returns. The delay won't really cause any problems.

correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't this the game i was dropped from because of my limited availability?

seems a little ironic...

Yes, it is a bit ironic, but there is a difference between a very limited availablity while one is here vs a vacation for someone who had better be more available once returned.

The first seemed permanent, while the second was temporary.

Welcome back Cybershy. Unfortunately, while I was available to play in June July and August, my schedule precludes me from starting any new games for a while. Bachelor party in Las Vegas this weekend, getting married 2 weeks after that and then honeymoon in Maui. Hopefully you can find a replacement. I will see all of you back here in Apolyton when Civ3 comes out.

Good luck in the tournament....

Someone please send me the most recent game file. I want to look at all the positions to decide whether the fairest thing is to replace Nappy or remove his Civ and adjust the map for 3 players.

If someone has a recommendation for a replacement, I'm open to the idea.
