Firaxis.com
On firaxis's main site, firaxis.com, right under the link to the "temporary" civ3 site, it says "official site now online!"
so naturally i clicked on the picture, it takes me to the site we've all grown to know and pray about an update of. The next step i tried was www.civ3.com, its still not up. am i missing something here or has firaxis dropped the ball (again)?

no, it simply means that they do not intend to put 1/1000000 of the effort put into sites like MOO3 or blizzard. honestly, i feel like a jackass every morning i try their website out. man, it has been 2 1/2 months since the last update. we stopped even 'fuzzy math' calculations as to when the update will be posted.....

Apparently Firaxis' idea of having a website is that you put a site on the net and never look at it again...
But they should keep it up to date!

Campmajor: You are propably right about updaing the site on a never-basis.
I just surfed around Firaxis site and came to page: http://www.firaxis.com/mailing_list.cfm. To my supprise I am able to subscribe to the Dino Diary newsletter. (Didn't test it, since I subscribed it back then already.) IIRC Dino project was buried a while ago or are they now working on three titles?

Nothing has been heard from firaxis for quite a while. The only good thing this means is that they are working hard on civ3.... no doubt to get the game out before the end of the year or maybe they are already behind schedule. EIther way, they should at least assign 1 or 2 people to the site for a few days so as to keep their fans interested. Nevertheless, I'm also pretty damn frustrated. :banned:

more like a whole PR department....
I just think that it is sad that they have shown so little interest in keeping us up to date(not even with a offical game web site), another reason to be a pessimest.

Keep in mind that Firaxis is a small company, probably without a lot of money. While I'd like to have more information, I can understand why we don't have it.
Also -- MarkG just posted a thread called "Firaxis Shall Speak"
Hopefully this is as good as it sounds. Maybe the new Civ3 site is up, with pages and pages of new info!

Kelley Gilmore, Communications Manager
Kelley comes to us with 15 years of marketing experience in a variety of industries - computer gaming, hi-tech, entertainment, sports, health care and publishing. Just prior to joining FIRAXIS in November 1999, she was a partner in KGMCommunications, Inc., a public relations agency dedicated to the hi-tech industry. The company worked with such clients as Sierra, WON.net, NetMarket Services, IVI Publishing and WatchGuard Technologies. Kelley manages our public relations effort and gladly accepts bribes in the form of cash and stunning gifts.

Gentlemen. They already have a someone who 'manages our public relations effort.' Then again, they also have a Web Wizard.

I believe that Firaxis will be getting the site up and running by the end of the first week in August. I don't know why, just a feeling.

face it. firaxis isn't updating the site.
stop hoping for something.
they're doing something, and obviously not in a rush to show any of it off.

Guys,
In case you don't know anything about web design, is not as easy as just posting a new website and then letting other people come to it and check it out, it takes time to create a whole new website, especially if your working full time on a different project *cough*...civ3 perhaps?
just give them a bit more time...then, if their site still isn't up...lets complain 'til we're sick of it.
besides...they can't consentrate all their time JUST on the website, if they did that, who would work on civ3?

Firaxis has hired an outside developer to make civ3.com. This is what I'm referring to. Also -- Firaxis has said that the site will be finished in early August.
