Join the Official Apolyton Realistic Civers Club
Since we have a club filled with 'pessimists' these days at Apolyton I feel there is a huge need for realists as well.
If you join this club we can fight together against:
- unbased pessimists
- blind optimists
- civ3 failures
- anti-civ hypes
But more important is what we stand for:
- Public applause if Firaxis reveales good information about civ3
- Constructive critisism in case we're not sure if something is good or not.
- Healthy contact with Firaxis in a polite human way
- civilization III
Members so far:
- LaRusso (First Member)
- Urban Ranger
- campmajor
- Grumbold
- LightEning
- splangy
- Rhuarc (webmaster)
- senowen
- Eli (official realistic spammer)
- The diplomat
- Sabre2th
- Col Bigspear
- Gramphos
- JellyDonut
members can show off their membership by puting this quote in their signature: Realism beats blind optimism and blatant pessimism !
and / or putting our banner up as their avator or create a mix between our banner and their current avator.

thanks for making the club official MarkG !
I've attached an avator you could use to support our club !
I've made a sig for general use by our members !
UR, we shouldn't give Yin to much honor by putting him in our sig, I guess. The president of our rivals isn't worth it

Well, I consider myself more a realist than a pessimist, so put me up as a member!
Can you change my avator as well?

I guess Markos should indeed have to attach it to your name,
or he should give me the right to do it (so it'll save him much time)
or you should spam yourself up to 500 posts, wich is not allowed and so I don't support you to do so. !
I can't get the black background away, Campmajor,
I'll try when I'm home this evening to make a better avator for you.

So Markos should attach it to my name?
Please Markos, will you do so then?
White forces are needed to balance the black forces!
By the way Cyber Shy, am I a member now?

Hey! I am a pessimistic realist. I want to be in both clubs. I'll have to found my own breakaway subfaction!

Good, finally Urban and CyberShy can be in the same club. I thought this day would never come .
And BTW, my avatar is self-made, and while it's not as good quality as Cyber's (the banner was changed in the resizing), it is, I think, even cooler than my previous avatar .

With the Apolyton posters breaking up into factions, pessimists, realist, optomists.... its starting to look like a SMAC mod....
All we need do now is await Civ3, plop the factions down on a MP map, and let them fight it out there...... if the pessimists will show up.....

Count me in on this one! It's about time some people step forward and denounce both those who blindly follow Sid, and those who have a blatant disregard for respect towards game developers. We must unit together in peace and harmony both applauding the developers, and if the times call for it, critisizing as well In this way the Civ community can once again reign supreme as one nation over all who may oppose us, CTP, CTP2, SMAC, CIV3, CIV2, CIV, all standing together in a united front agains the forces of evil. So stand tall and help make the world a better place!

Hey, I wish good luck to all you guys! Honestly. Before you join (or after), just consider what CyberShy has said:
Quote:
|
If you join this club we can fight together against:
- unbased pessimists
- blind optimists
- civ3 failures
- anti-civ hypes
|
None of our pessimism is or will be "unbased." Stuff like having NO information posted for weeks on end is quite real, you know, and should be mentioned in public.
Of course, we have no blind optimists.
"Civ3 failures"? I guess he means my 'review'? Most people understand it was meant to be constructive.
And of course, we won't condone anti-civ hype since we WANT Civ 3 to succeed!
Quote:
|
But more important is what we stand for:
- Public applause if Firaxis reveales good information about civ3
- Constructive critisism in case we're not sure if something is good or not.
- Healthy contact with Firaxis in a polite human way
- civilization III
|
Umm, we already publically stated those same things. In other words, there IS no difference between us already, I hate to say.

I someone actually going to have a list of members? If someone would like me to I can post a list of members of the club on my webpage. I think it would be cool if this actually took off!

I would like to be a member, please.
I think we need to encourage Firaxis not tear them down. And we need to be realistic about civ3 rather than pessimistic. If we are pessimistic, we will be miserable. If we are too optimistic, then we risk dissappointment. But if we are realistic, not just we will have a positive effect on Firaxis, but we will have realistic expectations ourselves of civ3. That is why I want to join the Realists Club!
And if you need a motto, how about: "Shining the light of realism on civilizations III"

"Please put Civ3.com online before we dissolve!"
or
"Please put Civ3.com online so to help the dissolution of Yin's club!"
There can be only one......club

I think the club should not just concentrate on Civ3, but should be a CIV realism Club. A club devoted to the realistic look at all civ games.

that would be great, Rhuarc, if you can make our website !
welcome diplomat !
thanks for the mottos, I suggest we'll have a club-vote about the motto it should be.
I think democraty is the most realistic way to run this club.

Ok, anyone who actually wants to be a member of the club send me an email to me with Realism Club Member as the Subject. I'll wait a couple of days to get most of the people then I'll post up a listing of all the members. Also, as soon as we get a motto I can post it up as well. Is this club going to be run as a democracy? If it is, do we need a VP, or anything other than president? We'll show the pessimism club just how a club should be run!!

Thanks Cybershy. I updated my avatar.
I noticed just now that Jeffrey Morris FIRAXIS was logged on. Perhaps, we will get some civ3 news.

This is great
This forum becomes a busy place again. For several months all we had were a bunch of threads arguing either about "what-ifs" or technical points.
LightEning,
What do you mean?

Yes, and if you check now, you will see that Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS is now logged on.
2 folks from FIRAXIS in a row on the same day. Coincidence, I think not!
