What will it cost Firaxis to shut me up? (offer ends August 15th)
NOTE: Times ARE cumulative! In cases of uncertainty, I will defer to a small committee to determine if Firaxis met their half of the deal.
[The item from Firaxis: The number of Yin-less days]
The opening of Civ3.com by August 1: 1 week
Screenshots with significantly improved graphics: 1 week
Any in-depth discussion of any gameplay feature: 1 week
Any statement about pushing back the release date to Q2 2002 or later WITH the reasons that October was just a silly publisher's ploy and Firaxis would never cave in like that: 1 week
Massively in-depth discussion of the AI: 2 weeks
Any PR statement that actually admits previous PR efforts were off the mark and insulted the gamer's intelligence: 1 month
Any request for Markos to ban himself: 1 day, since they really should just do that anyway.
Any direct apologies to Yin for Sim Golf: 2 months with the option to go for a year if Sim Golf gets cancelled immediately and all available staff take Civ 3 to incredible heights.
But hurry, Firaxis. Offer ends August 15th. Do the entire Apolyton community a favor and SHUT ME UP!

yin, they have attempted to talk about some of the gameplay features...trade, diplomacy, and resources, for example. Other than that, you're pretty much right on in pointing out their PR ploys of an early release and full website. Then again, you have to expect that sort of thing nowadays .

the perfect strategy: ask for something that will never happen(a public attack of a developer to the publisher) and then accuse them of not doing the right thing.....

I think you can sort out the "could happens" from the "won't happens," eh Markos?

when you ask for something impossible and still get something back instead of nothing, you should do the honorable thing and keep the deal....

LOL! Hilarious. How about they actually do ONE of the possible things I listed and be honorable themselves?

By the way, to make this easier for you, I consider the following not only possible but absolutely reasonable:
The opening of Civ3.com by August 1: 1 week
Screenshots with significantly improved graphics: 1 week
Any in-depth discussion of any gameplay feature: 1 week
Massively in-depth discussion of the AI: 2 weeks (that one is iffy as to how reasonable it is, so I'll put that in the impossible colum to make you happy, Markos, if you want)
Any request for Markos to ban himself: 1 day, since they really should just do that anyway.

how do you characterize this as "reasonable" when you dont what they actually want to do for civ3.com and what their schdules and work load is????
eitherway, they have now mentioned an opening date for civ3.com
