a question
Hey all: I just found a copy of civ 2 at walmat and i had to bye it. I installed it and am playing now.
I've played alpha centauri and it's sequill, and I've played ctp1/ll,and I've even tried to play imperium glacticum l/ll. Though the latter was so buggy I could never finish the game.
Anyway i digress, I have a question for any one who can or want's to answer me.
How do you make roads? the game mentions something about engineers when I got the ability to build bridges and construction. Then when I tried to build a road,it said that only engineers and something else could build them. (I don't remember what the other thing was)
So could somebody please help me?
Thanks

Settles and engineers can build roads, only engineers can build railroads. To place roads, IIRC tap the R key in the unit's current spot. Or automate the settler, he'll make roads, irrigation, etc for you automatically, although he's sometimes quite dumb.
Hope that helped.

Settlers and engineers can build roads and railroads. But you must have discovered bridge building if you want to build a road on a river square.

On the dropdown menu "Orders", choose 'automate settler' when the settler unit is active. I believe the shortcut is 'k'
Be warned... they get all stoooooopid when automated. Notwithstanding the illegal irrigation benefits.

Indeed. Sometimes, ehh, frequently, they stop working and you have to disable the automation and move the engineer/settler to another place.

Auto
can be good if you have lots of pollution , they tend to that very quickly without you worrying about it, i usually put 10 or so settles to work on 'K' in end game in case any pollution comes up ...
