The Most Important Club Forming Here
MarkG, I know you're against the rise of factions on these boards but I want a new club formed:
Official Apolyton Supporters for the Inclusion of Elvis in All Things Civ also known as Apol4Elvis
Sign up in this thread here to rally the clans in support of our blue-suede hero.
PS: Please don't close this thread, this has nothing to do with pessimism or optimism, it's just a support group for good-ole-fashioned Civ fun.

Screw you, I'm serious. This isn't Spam. At least this is one area in which we as Apolytoners can actually impact Civ3 in a concrete manner, even at this late stage of development

Yeah, but AH posted a whole slew of totally legit threads in the Civ3 forum. Threads that actually turned into legit debates without spamming as soon as people got past the who the poster was.

We've seen most of the advisors by now (at least we think we have) and there's no sign of the king. If he's in, great, but if he's not, it's almost certainly too late to add him.

I think you summed it up right there. I don't think he ever wanted a club trend to start, but it did. It's not bad on its face, but if you keep adding clubs as "exceptions" then authority is undermined. Mark didn't like it when other people tried to make a club, he didn't like new threads for club discussions, and I don't see why he'd allow this one, if not just to be fair to others.
Techwins, for example, tried his own, but it was shot down. It had potential, and so does this one, but you should at least get confirmation before you try, I'm sure he will if he wants to continue his club. Good luck regardless

I don't care about the club stuff, I just didn't want MarkG to lock this thread like he has all the other "club" threads. That and I think the optimist versus realist debate is a relatively small group of over-opinionated posters, I figured I could pick up those left out, the "silent majority," and use their collective voices to forward a very worthy cause.
Besides, this is mainly a rallying thread for Elvis, who by the way was recently spotted at my local Wendy's during lunch. I asked him about Civ3, but he was pretty evasive, said he heard Priscilla calling so he didn't have time to answer my questions.

You called for my thread, a legit thread, to be closed. I find that "screw you" is as constructive as your request. I don't flame (with the exception of Giancarlo OT posts) and I don't troll, so don't treat my threads like they are such.

Whether or not "screw you" was appropriate, I'd get this back into a rallying thread before it turns into something a little more lively.

Get him stoned, and then tell him the luxury rate went down. He'll listen to you after that.

Come on, Elvis wasn't a stoner, only pain killers and booze for the King. Maybe telling him the FDA was increasing prescription drug controls and the price of bourbon was going up and he'd listen.
