Our 1st PBEM game is underway.
Ok all... ready to play? : )
Here are the current players and their prespective emails:
Tubok
Vomitus
Dynamic
Popo
Methe Mind
Black Sunrise
(don't know if there is an automatic comp player for 7th spot or not. If there is...it's Ursurper...the other Alien).
[sorry for not having a 7th player. Was waiting for interested parties to email with their preferred factions and such. Didn't want to make the game as a whole have to wait any longer than needed. BUT..... if anybody is interested in another game, please llet me know your preferred factions 1st, 2nd, 3rd for both SMAC and SMAX.... and which smax/smac you prefer to play. I'll be more than happy to organize and setup another game.]
And below is the game settings:
Huge World
50 - 70 Ocean coverage
Dense Cloud Cover
Medium Alien Life
All ways of winning
Transcend
No Stealing Tech on Conquest
No Unity Scattering
Do or Die
Non-Accelrated
Picking your research direction
Mr. Dynamic is up first. Please insure that the appropriate file is sent to the correct player inline. I figure it'll get kind of confusing, so that's why I listed people's alias with their email address. A small idea, set up a directory somewhere to save/store our PBEM game files, so it'll be easy to access and not misplace it. I adjusted the original settings I had proposed to you all, after I got your responses. Hope it is good enough to be fair to all. We could have had another player maybe, but didn't want to hold everybody up. I'm keeping a list of interested players, and am always interested in forming new games. I have another idea...see what you all think. After the game ends, the player lowest on the totem pole (so to speak) gets to have 1st choice for the faction they get to play in our next game (i.e. 1st person to get conquered or give up, or have the lowest score). What do you think? I just want everybody to enjoy the game and hope it's as fair as possible. If anybody has any other ideas, please share them with me. My ICQ# is: 1281662 if anybody else uses ICQ. Btw....fyi.... I live in Manchester, New Hampshire, USA.
Well, Good Luck and lets have fun!
Tubok

It's EtheMind!
Methe Mind ...sounds like a meat grinder or something...
It's EtheMind, E-t-h-e-m-i-n-d, it's my alias and it's cool as it is, EtheMind

To speed up diplomacy and such it would be useful for players to have ICQ.
http://www.icq.com/download/
* ICQ is very user-friendly
* ICQ continually tells you which of your friends & colleagues are online
* ICQ gives you real-time chat with online friends and colleagues
* ICQ allows you to quickly send messages back and forth
* ICQ lets you easily send files to other people
...and its FREE!
Follow this Link for more info on ICQ

First turn sent to Vomitus as of now.
ICQ is evil, it is yet another way for people to spam you till you're dead.

2102 to Dynamic of the Conciousness.
Upon our landing, efforts have been made to explore the nearby area.
Does our game have a title, to differentiate it from the other games we may be in? I kinda like VI:
Indra
PS, no ICQ, I cant do IM's. Email diplomacy is fine by me. What's the opinion on meeting people before communicating vs. landing with all comm frequencies?
I'm in favor of landing with all the frequencies. Will speed up the early game, as we all get techs and such faster, and since we have 6 players on a huge map, this game could take forever otherwise. Up to everyone else, though.

You can always talk/trade with other human players in the game, regardless of what comm links you have.
The email/ICQ/whatever communication is so that we can negotiate while other people are having their turn, rather than in game which is slow and annoying.
I'm in favour of early communication as well.

I'm not so much into idea of early communication. It's of course unrealistic, but is that all that important? The thing is that you can hardly know whether you "like" other factions or not, without even seeing them, or their policies, accomplishments or possible threat they propose to your factions.
Early Commerce only help rich factions and downgrade the position of other factions, so why get into it right after Planet Fall.
Listen to me, I'm already speaking like a Drone!
But, the Free Drones Goverment has been officially established after the Planet Fall. EtheMind, as its respectable Foreman may me contacted in the intrest of diplomacy if we go for the early comms.
And nice commercial MrDynamic Tell me. How much are they paying to you?

And where's the game going? Should have gotten it by now. We're going to have to stand one another for a very long time...

Ethemind's turn
Just sent the file to you Ethemind. Also...fyi. you can change the mistake I made with your alias. Go into the menus, and look for the option to change/edit faction info. I think you can change your name there.

I'm not sure how I feel about my faction.
I'm the Caretakers, and the alien factions are notoriously overpowered.
Now, I've never played them, so that takes some of the sting out of them, but still...
I -do- play a builder style, so at least you won't have to worry about be coming knocking on your door with an army.
Shrug.
Just a random thought, while I wait for turns to get to me...

I know I can change the name, and I think I already did. But I'm not sure was it updated though.
And...Sunrise, yes, you are overpowered. But then again, there's five more of us in the game ...I'm not in any way trying to make a point
And, don't worry Sunrise I'm sure there's someone who will come knocking on your door
I'm out with evil attitude today...

Sorry Sunrise. When you had mentioned you were interested, but didn't specify a faction preference.... and all the others were already spoken for. Don't worry though.... If we play another game, we'll try to be sure you don't get the aliens again.

It is now Vomitus's turn (2102).
So it is Tubok's fault you are the aliens. You can have SMAC factions in SMAX, so they couldn't have all been taken. Unless you were going for a "pure" SMAX game.
I figured you chose to use them and were planning on killing all the poor defenseless humans. I better disarm those X troopers then

see.... I have a lot to learn still. I didn't know you could also have SMAC factions included in a SMAX game. Learn something new everyday.

Move sent to Dynamic.
Could we try to name the .SAV files something smart?
Like vi-2103-dynamic.sav
Which makes it a lot clearer than
pbem.sav
at least, it's clearer when you have 6 games going on at once.

BTW: Tubok, the large sum of cash is being wired to your account now. The humans will never know what hit them.

Perhaps we should make a pact to all gang up on the Caretakers and erradicate them as soon as possible, so Black Sunrise won't have to deal with these feelings of guilt ...

OK, I did -not- get my bug issue resoved, despite reinstall.
I -did- bypass the issue.
Basically, every time I opened the city screen, and tried to change my
production, the system crashed.
So I used F4, set the sity to governor settings, and customized those
settings so it could -only- produce colony pods (what I wanted it to do).
I have no idea what caused the crashes.
You'll all probably get several reload warnings.
Now you know what they were, and how I bypassed the bug.
Hopefully it will not crop up next turn, or I'll have to try to find another
machine to play on.

I've heard Black Sunrise is the one taking a nap Tubok, as respectable admin might want to contact him and ask whether he has received his turn or not. He visited forum 14. day of this month, participating in PBEM game, so he's with us, but for some reason not with this game...

An email has already been sent to Black Sunrise. As soon as he replies, we can figure out what to do. If he has nobody to play his turns (providing he's no longer playing) I can get his password and just keep setting his to as "automatic" as possible.

Black Sunrise,
If you are not going to be able to play in this game, can you email your password to me please? I've emailed you for it, but haven't yet recieved your reply.
Just in case I can't get Black Sunrise's password, how do you all feel about us starting a "new" game, as very few turns has occured.
If everybody would like me to just start the game over, I have no problem with that. I'll use the same settings I used in this game, but wiil make sure that no Alien factions are in the game. Just let me know what your preferred factions are (first 3 factions.... in order or preference). Hopefully we can get a full 7 person game going, unless you all would like to just start with the players we do have. just let me know.
