If you can, get ICQ messaging.
It makes finding a game much easier.
Look for EyesOfNight.
He's the resident point of contact for newbies, as he enjoys the teaching aspect of Civ very much.

I must agree that Eyes is the King of civ teachers but I see that Gheghisken comes from Toronto, so perhaps War4 should take him under his wing.

Thanks folks...I've had a lot of responses. I'm going to host an internet rookie match Thursday Aug 2 starting at 7:30pm EST.
That is of course presuming that the Code Red virus does not destroy the internet before then

ICQ and The Zone really are the easiest ways to connect a game.
You won't find a lot of stay with it people at Zone, but some are there.
