You interview Jeff Morris and you don't ask him about multiplayer?
Christ that was a poor effort. The interview was okay, as far as it went, but next time ASK HIM ABOUT MULTIPLAYER!
I suggest you get a regular civ 2 multiplayer on the interview team.

I would like to be apart of that team. In fact I'll assimilate my own questions right now. These are some of the questions that I would like answered.
1). Who are the 16 civs that are in the game?
2). How many units will there be?
3). What time frame will the game span from?
4). Will there be minor civs?
5). Can you have any combination of civs at once playing?
6). Will multiplayer be shipped with Civ3 or will it come in an expansion pack?
7). How many technologies will be in the game?
8). Will there be cultural leaders?
9). Does the AI seem to handle all the new implementations well?
10). Has there been any significant changes to the movement system, either in airfare or land movement with railroads?
11). Is there a considerable amount of statistics in the game, i.e. demographics?
12). Will the game be in a windowed mode?
13). Is there modern units for the settler and/or worker?
14). When a resource is used up, will that resource be re-placed on the map in a different spot?
15). Has the Apolyton poster Yin26 been a big influence on the thinking of Sid Meir?
Well, I have other questions that I would like answered but I can't think of them at this time. As you can tell, most of my questions should be answered in factual information not in an opinionated way. I would like factual info. and not somebody's opinion. We know the opinion is biased that is why I don't want an opinion.

Yes Ming would have been a good choice for the interview team
I'm going to be very pissed off if they release this game as SP and then expect you buy it again as an MP version.

The day before Sid said in another interview they were not prepared to talk about MP. What's the point of asking them again?
I can tell you that a lot of those questions there were submitted, that Ming indeed was active in the question suggestion thread but only as feedback and did not submit questions if his own even though he had an opportunity to do so had he wished. He contributed a lot to the interview in other ways, however. Remember, the ultimate responsibility is Markos's...

Well, the full quote was "We’re working on some unique things with multiplayer, but we’re not ready to start talking about it yet. It has always been challenging to make multiplayer really fun in turn-based games and we’re looking at new ways of approaching that."
In a previous interview Briggs menitioned "two never-seen-before modes of multiplayer".

well, good MP should
- diminish many problems one might have with AI - if AI is crap, log on and play someone as mean as yourself;
- add to longevity;
-trash civ2.11 arguments if the MP system is really 'never before seen'. i can't wait to see what that could mean.......

Thanks Snapcase...
Yes, since MP was off limits, most of my concerns were about supporting the game, so we don't have another CtPII situation
There was a lot of discussion about the questions. MarkG gave us all an opportunity to contribute questions... since they had already considered the questions I wanted to ask, I was just pushing to go for the throat on the "support" issue... Which to me, is the most important thing right now

Why fix it if it ain't broke?
The multiplayer set up in civ 2 is very stable and user friendly. There are a few areas where it could improved and we've raised those repeatedly (kick player, simult mode, alliance win etc.).
So unique new ways of playing?
I don't want to play off a remote server for a start and I want my games in a window
I'll keep an open mind but I hope they don't balls it up like CTP II

"The multiplayer set up in civ 2 is very stable and user friendly"
BS!
BS I say, you've just been playing it so much you've forgotten what a stable and user friendly multiplayer game looks like
The ability to rush-buy on others turns, the ****ed up hotseat play, no they need to really improve it
I WANT hotseat play. My associates and I would play a lot if we could, but we tried once and it was total BS.

I agree that civ2 MP needed work, but that should be in the past now. Whatever Firaxis has done is done. I look forward to their new ideas and improvements.
Just because they don't want to reveal their new ideas doesn't mean that MP is not done/done badly/whatever.
We just don't have the information yet. Stop worrying.
