I'm in utter disbelief!! I cannot believe that this is true!! It's utterly amazing!
What's even more amazing is the way that Sid/Yin talked down the game so much....even going as far as saying that it's going to be a huge diaster and Firaxis suck and the graphics are horrible and everyone at Firaxis has their heads up their arses.
I cannot believe it. And MarkG and Sid were in on it the whole time. Sid was listening the whole time to our innermost fears and qualms and hopes for civ3. I cannot....I don't believe it.
This must be an amazing plot by Yin. It can't be true!!
If it is though, I'd imagine Yin/Sid is reading this - so, please, Sid, fix up the graphics

We still have two or three months before the game is released. I wonder what kind of nonsense people will be posting by that time.

I still don't understand why MarkG hasn't written this up as a news item...

I like this, and I'm getting it into the news! Sid, I think I'm going to add some questions to our interview, what do you think? Does anyobdy remember that I'm making an interview with Yin, err, Sid?
But all his posts now have a different meaning. Can't be true.
Sid, I have an offer - August 7th, when we will be having our birthday party, it would be nice for you to enter the chat room under the name of Yin26, and announce: "I am Sid Meier! All ofthe Apolytoners will have to pay double money for Civ 3!". Heh.

If this is true then will he get in conflict with the marketing department I think. Yin ended the blindless following of the civ3 hype created by the marketing department in this forum. Poor marketing department

It seems it's not true. At least Markos denies it.

Guys, stop and think for a second.
If yin really is sid, they pulled the most daring, time consuming, and pointless marketing stunt of the century. Apolyton is home to a few hundred civ3 addicts (somewhere in there). To spend all this time (hours upon hours) as a double agent just to convince .5% of buyers (prolly less than that) to hit the stores is very ineffective.
Apolyton's userbase is enourmous, but even if everyone in one particular section of the site bought the game, the profit wouldn't be nearly enough to overcome civ3's production costs (huge, btw)...
If yin is sid, dude, get back to work!

Of course it's probably not true and you're right, Apolyton does represent a very small fraction of the civ following. It also wouldn't take much on Firaxis's part to do this. It would just take an hour or so a day from Sid (which is unlikely, given his new love for golf).

OMG.
It was meant to be a joke, I cannot believe that some people really took it seriously.

I don't think anyone really believes it LaRusso. It's just a fun distraction from our daily boredom.
