Which would you rather see improved: AI or Graphics?
Which aspect from Civ II (or SMAC, or TOT, whatever) would you like to see improved the most for Civ III: AI or graphics?

Who cares about graphics... as long as I can tell what's going on, good enough for me.
Give me an AI that actually has a clue... otherwise, make the MP version work REAL WELL

Why settle for one when you can have both?

The AI is most important, what I've seen of graphics so far looks ok for me!
I just don't hope they will change the graphics to SMAC graphics, cuz it looked bad with those mountains (Or whatever thay called it, never tested the game more than an hour)

Keep the art guys hands off the AI routines and definitely don't let the programming geeks loose on the art tools. Experts should do what they do best and leave the other fields to their own masters. Just make sure the best of both are working on Civ and not SimGolf!

The graphics look good, so I would like the last of the programming to be focused on the AI as well as the editors. I want a challenging, customizable game.

AI!
I'm pretty much in the same line as Ming, it's all the same to me as long as I'm aware of the things going on. I'd invest more on AI, and especially playability. I really dislike those turns that take half-an hour; so, let's get a better city governor AI!

If you had to choose one over the other it's an easy decision, AI. The thing is the programmers deal with the AI and the artists deal with the graphics so there is no reason why you can't have both. Give me a great AI and clear graphics.

Sorry, but I don't feel that I should have to compromise. I want both improved dramatically, as is the case!

I didn't bother to vote. I know that the graphics will look fine when they come out. Again, as long I can see what's going on and the graphics don't make me vomit on my keyboard, I don't care too much. I also don't think that Firaxis will release civ3 with a bad AI, so let's move on....

I'm sure that the graphics will be nice, and I am equally sure the AI will be terrible. The first step in making a rules-based AI is talking to humans who are experts in the topic, and there won't be any humans who are experts in Civ III until some time after the game is published, so it's pretty much guaranteed that the AI from version 1.0 of Civ III will look awful a few months after it's released (unless they delay publishing the game by a few months just for the sake of a good AI, yeah right). What will make the difference is whether they improve the AI in the patches and in the expansion(s). For SMAC they didn't do either, and if they keep up that tradition the AI in this game is going to be just terrible.
Since I basically only care about the AI, I'll watch the release of this game with interest but I'm not planning on buying it until the price has gone down a (long) ways. (Of course, my computer probably won't be able to handle the graphics anyway... )

AI only.
I really prefer civI graphics over civII, TOT, CTP... so I would rather have the programmers focus on 1) AI 2) having graohics that don't slow the game/require your buying a nifty 3D card or having 64Mo video RAM card.

Trdi, in that case I can say Firaxis have screwed it up twice! There will be civil disorder on a global scale when Civ3's released, only Sid won't be able to fix it by clicking on slidebars or building cathedrals.

These graphics are almost OK, so I want AI improved, with little focus on graphics, too.

What I want to be improved is gameplay. Otherwise I'm not greedy like bad old Provost, I just want moderate improvements in both AI and graphics.

I agree, gameplay is the main area I want improvement it, but I also want an AI that uses the improved gameplay and uses it well. Improved gameplay requires improved AI, or you get CtP2, more options but an opponent who won't use them (shudder)

Like I and many others have said, Serapis, it's not exactly easy to program an AI. We get what we can get. Odds are Firaxis won't be able to implement an AI that meets anyone's. We just don't have the technology.
