I think we should lynch the snivelling little turd. Did you ever hear what happened to the boy who cried wolf Eli? He got his bollocks removed by angry civvers who had their hopes raised only to be cruelly dashed

What a perfect moment to quietly sneak in a mention that I expect the site to launch by the end of the week, barring any 11th hour problems...

Nice. I predicted "early August." If you keep to the schedule, I'll send you half of my winnings, which should amount to a cool $5 in your pocket, Dan.

I will say that the website will go online at 9am PST on Friday
Any takers?

Hmmm. It's funny. I get frustrated because of an appearent lack of communication between Firaxis and the ACS forum denizens. Yet, when there is a well timed blurb of information, I get a warm fuzzzy feeling inside and feel like all is good...
I am so pathetic.... I hang my head in shame... but is a good kind of shame, knowing that the cite should be up by the end of the week!!!!

So now you see the wisdom of being constantly pessimistic?

You can still disable view of images from your browser and browse text at acceptable pace with a 9K connection.
Anyway everyone seems to agree graphics doesn't count on a Civ game...
Just kidding, of course. Well, if you feel in trouble I can offer to you a personal (free) help: I can post to your address a brief e-mail preview of the site, just to tell you the most relevant news of the Civ 3 site (and any game new info released) as an "appetizer" until you gain a better connection again.
Feel free to let me know by private mail, if you like.

now we just have to argue on whether this means friday(working week), saturday or sunday(depeding on where you live)
of course Dan could be a part of some religious cult that believes the world was created on a wednesday, so weeks end on wednesday and therefore we'll have to wait until next week("next" for all other people)

Yes and then a poll on what we think of the civ 3 site and then a poll on how much we will play the game and then a poll on......

I thought Alexander01 was the infamous pollster
My prediction is, that it's Sunday. And... 1700 EST.
Thank you Mr. Magaha!
The Firaxians really have the ability to dribble in tiny bits of information exactly at the right spot.

Just to say that there is a different message on the website. It now says The page cannot be displayed rather than access not allowed....
I thought I would post this to be really pathetic...

Now... all we have to do is remove all the 11th hours so the site will be lauched before the end of the week (which is less then seven days, unless Firaxis is using an unconventional form of "week".

What does he mean when he says "11th hour"?
Does he mean that the site is going to launch on the 11th of August (Saturday)?
Or does he mean that it is going to launch at 11 AM Pacific time?
Or is it simply a expression?
Someone must know!!!

Java, your use of triple exlamation marks and the latter question somehow emphasize my subconscious stereotypes about Americans, Californians in particular
When something happens on "11th hour" it happens just before it is supposed to happen; if you get on the bus right when it is leaving, you get on it on "the 11th hour". That is, if this has any relation to a Finnish idiom which is very similar.
So, I doubt that Mr. Magaha was referring to a time of the day with "11th hour". I guess he meant that they wouldn't have too much trouble just before or after opening the site, which should happen in the next 72 hours.
That's all, class dismissed

In case you didn't notice, it was a joke. Meant in a humorous manner. Something that causes this:
