Getting Apolyton Mentioned in the Civ 3 Documentation
Does anyone else think that this might be a cool idea? All it would require is a line or two in the section of the manual covering sources of Civ related help. They could even throw a link to Apolyton in the online help somewhere. It would give all Civvers instant access to a large community of their fellows. Firaxis would probably go for it as well since a few of the Firaxians hang out here and the cost would be next to nothing.

I like this idea. It'll be good for Apolyton in terms of increased traffic. And from what I've seen in the CivIII forums, it's not unmerited either.

Is extra traffic reaaly what we want, I guess Mark might want more traffic, but seems to me we get enough posters already without further advertisng. But I guess as soon as civ 3 comes out people will be typing civ3 into browser search engines and are very likely to find us anyway, thats how i found the civ 2 MP section ....
Oh is it alright for me to post here Winston? woudnt want to upset you and have you screaming SPAM SPAM again everytime I post !!!!

If Firaxis cares about the players then they should do this. Like Spekter said, it will help many players and will increase the time that players will play the game.

I was under the impression that we would get a mention... for the eforts on the civ III list. They sould say "something" in the manual... we will see. Yin shoud get a very nice mention somewhere.... It's only fair.

We plug them like crazy. They can give us one little plug. Activision actually gave 'Poly pretty good plugs.

I guess the next question is who do we talk to at Firaxis to make it happen or find out if they were already going to do it anyway? I suppose we could talk to Dan M. and he'd let us know. Does anyone have him in their buddy list?

Yes! Apolyton in. Not only that, an addendum thanking all the Apolyton users by (user)name who added something, too.
Maybe we should ask DanQ. So how did that feel, eh, Emperor? Having a cosy little place in the manual.

They should add an Apolyton Level in the retirement screen as a joke for players who score above 400% in games
Everyone will wonder what it means!

In Apolyton's CIV 3 section, many good blokes have brought up many ideas, and there's been a lot of good discussion, especially since Firaxis published the first pictures and details about the game. But as for the new game ideas - sorry, but I can't remember that any of those ideas is used in CIV 3. Please correct me of I'm wrong, but as long as Firaxis doesn't appreciate the work (by more then saying nice idea, sorry we have a better one), they won't list any names. Well, this counts for names, maybe they have a VERY small entry like "oh, and apolyton was cool also"... but I think that would be more deprecating then flattering

not only in the credits/manuel. . but also a SMALL unobtrusive inside joke thing somewhere in game. .
i suggested once along time ago for the discoverey of computers (or internet, or whatever is computer/internet related) for the graphic of the computer to have a picture of the apolyton web page on the computer. . something like that would be great.

yeah, I remembr that suggestion, I liked it... wasn't it someone surfing on the web, shown in the tech or wonder video?
well, there might also appear posts of some special persons... what about a completely representative overview.... a little US-bashing from Dookie, schooolmastering from Ming, essays from MtG, a cherryade order from PH, Ecthelion being banned.... all those things in just 0.5 seconds, just enough for a subconcious ad

I think poly should be both in documentation and in game bonus, inside joke.
However, I hardly think that'll happen....
The documentation - probably yes (if not then they really suck!)
THe inside - eh...
But remember, they already said they are gonna put someone's face in the game!!
There was a picture competition of one with a FIRAXIS game, and someone iwll get to be in Civ III

Oooh, you're a naughty one aren't you Andy
Well yeah, of course Apolyton should be credited in the documentation. Bonus points to Firaxis if my name appears in there

Metaphorically speaking of course. Bonus points in my prestige and adoration of Firaxis
