Apolyton: The Book
This was going to be listed in the column and be a news item by dan... see my signature for the link; however, I will have to disable large portions of the site unless I get permission in the next week from several posters to have their posts able to appear on the site.
I already had permission from
-
Colon
sirotnikov
JohnT
but need permission from the other people, or else I will have to delete their information on the site.
Thank you, in advance for giving me permission

Why do you need permission?
I also see I have at least one quote in the list.

Well, if I'm on the site, then I give you permission. If not, this post never happened .

It's very strange that you need permission to quote somebody, as long as you make sure to provide a proper reference. You can't quote more than a "reasonable amount" of consecutive material, however, or else you'll be engaged in copyright infringement. This is why you don't need to get permission (IIRC) to quote another author in works of your own.

What is this about? The "Apolyton 100"? Please enlighten me, I haven't got signatures turned on, so I see no link in your first post DarkCloud.

I cannot read it, my system cannot convert the word document.
I sincerly doubt I'm in it anyway, but considering how the last list went, if I am, then the answer is no.

The links in your sig did not work for me, and i do not know if I have anything to do with this (having only started here 9 months ago), but on the odd chance that I do, go ahead with any of my stuff.

Wouldn't it be easier to just ask those individually you need, instead of asking blindly and hoping all that you need give permission?
You have my premission to use my screen name or anything you need that is mine, although I severly doubt I have said or done anything to warrant a position on a fabled DarkCloud compliation.

Okay- I'll say why.
There are copyright laws that forbid posting anything from a forum on a website without the author's permission.
I have 2 weeks to a month to get permission.
Bob- sorry about that, Colon wrote it... If you want to write something that opposes it... then you can- and if it is good, then I'll replace it.
Chris, you don't need to read the word document, it's all on the site, and more was planned, but I found out about the law and thus, put it on hiatus.
tniem- I could, but that would take a lot of time, this is easier... I think I'll go after anyone who I really need their stuff on the site after I get permission from the people who find this thread
Thank you for giving permission if you did!

Chris, you are in it- it is just your post and no opinions on you.

Ok, I don't seem to be mentioned in there. Even if I was, I wouldn't have any objections. Seems pretty harmless overall to me.

Darkcloud: I don't plan to write anything, but if you're going to abide by your rules I would ask that you remove the History049 part. Thanks

Thank you everyone for your permission!
Bob- I believe the history049 part had your addenums in it, where you explained in detail why you did it... I could take that out... but since it is your wishes, I will consider taking the whole essay out, but, you must admit, it is very informative about the 'old days' of apolyton.

Thanks

I don't know if you stayed on the CivII Strategy and General forums after the new year, but those have really been buzzing - We've made huge strides in figuring out all sorts of things about how the game works. SG(2) led the push to create the Great Library, which I hope is familiar to all apolytoners who play CivII. The SGs, SlowThinker, Gastrifitis, La Fayette, EST, Solo, Sampson, Marquis de Sodaq , and others have assembled quite a pile of civ knowledge. Few of us rank high enough to even gain a footnote on the list based on post count.
While this is a nudge to encourage recognition of these efforts, it is also a shameless plug to those who do not browse those forums to have a look!
