Beta?

I read somewhere that an October release was to be expected. Now, 2 months may seem like a long time to wait, but shouldn't a beta of Civ3 be out long before that for bug testing? Unless they're gonna release the game without a beta test, which would be very unwise. Anyone know if a beta testing program has started?

Firaxis isn't doing a "public" beta, if that's what you mean. They're (no doubt) doing plenty of inhouse testing and working closely with the Quality Assurance team at Infogrames as well

Firaxis will be moving into Beta very soon, if they haven't already. Unfortunately, there is no public beta

That was about a week ago that he said that. I would think it should be moving into beta mid-August giving them almost a month and a half to beta test before going gold. Plenty of time. It will be out this October, it appears. I have been wrong in all past discussions of when the game would be released.

Release date has always been mentioned as Q4 2001, since the begginning. So, looks like it will be October, or perhaps November.
