culture and cities and buildings
According to the Civ3.com FAQ,

Quote:
When a city is captured, the conquering civ will gain no culture from any of the buildings in that city.
If I capture a city, do I need to destroy the earlier inhabitant's culture creating buildings such as temples to then build my own? Will destroying their old temples reduce the foreign nationals's resistance to my culture, or will it increase their resistance?

Military conquest late in the game against a strong culture is gonna be slow going.

Yeah. And I like it that way.
