Characters: Where'd they go?
Where character units or "hero" units scrapped?

Not as far as I know. We just have not heard much about them. Hopefully, the official site can give us an update on how they work.

I thought leader units were already confirmed. Plus they diffently will be in since great people will be in the game. I really like these two ideas of great people and leader units. Is that going to be the coolest thing if when you are lets say the Americans and you are fighting with your marine then all of sudden it turns into Gen. Patton. Not to mention if you are the Greeks and then Aristotle becomes created as a great person.

Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.

Take a look at the military advisor (at the bottom right of the page). You´ll see "Available Leaders". Pretty much confirmed I´d say.

Too bad...I'm not really looking forward to having 'heroes'. I like to think it's about armies, not individual men. Abstraction, people!

PS -Genghis Vick, do you happen to frequent the MaximumPC forums?

Gamespot says in their prewiew that units will go from new-veteran-elite and from elite there is a possibility for a unit to become a great leader.
