Eh, I just completed Apollo in 75 BC, and it appears that you CAN build spaceship ..
parts if it's a Scenario. Could have done it a few years earlier had I only known ....

Great! Now please tell me how you were able to land so early in OCC #21 without trading hides to death.

Apart from the usual nano-management?
We built some boats.

Please clue me in. I switched to a scenario just before building space flight and Apollo, and still no parts.
Also, I bet it would be interesting to see how the countdown of single years works if a ship is ready to launch before 1 A.D. Will it do it backwards, B.C. style?

Which version are you playing? I have MGE.
Landing on AC before 4000 BC, now that would be something!

MGE, what I did was save the game prior to space flight, and then exited. After renaming the game with the .scn extension, I started started it as a scenario, discovered flight, built Apollo, but still no parts. What am I doing wrong?

You need to save the game as a scenario from the Cheat menu. Simply changing the extension doesn't make it one.

Yup, it works. I always thought cheat was irrevocable and would stay on your score. So it's best to start game as a scenario, I guess.
Just saw your great effort in OCC #22 and was envious of all those hides in OCC #23. See my log in my thread on parts, where I had a tough challenge after getting invention early.

Yeah, all those Hides were a bit overkill. The poor Zulus could hardly explore their surroundings, we had them encircled with freight waiting for the right moment . But I prefer a single demanded Gold trade early on, one such freight can gain several turns.
Invention is of course a major luck factor here. You could decide to only tip huts on turns when The Wheel has rotated out, but that would probably slow you down so much that it may not be worth the trouble.

Are you playing at the deity level?
What are your settings?

Yes, deity, with 7 civs, raging hordes, and no other special settings. The big difference is the "river" map being used with many easily accessible huts. Try OCC #23, you'll like it!
