Mongols! Damn it Mongols!
Ok, I can't believe that the Mongols didn't make it into the "big 16".
They only had the largest land empire in history, stretching from china to the gates of europe!
Has there been any confirmation from firaxis about adding your own civs?
I'm assuming it would be pretty simple, (aside from the artwork).
Their special unit would of course be the mongol horseman. A mounted bowman, similar to regular bowman but with more movement points or something.

I think the Mongols were more a phenomenon than a civilization. Their empire didn't last very long. Not that I don't want them in the game.
You definately can create your own civs. But I don't know if you'll have to replace the existing civs or if it's going to be possible to add new ones.

If we widened the margins we regard the Mongols in, we'll find that they were one of the driving cultural forces in the history of Asia. No, they were no destroyers, this image is only suitable for Genghis Khan and his immediate successors.
The Mongols soon after the death of Genghis Khan, split their empire into four greater parts. The Empire of the Gakhan, in Mongolia and China, the Empire of the Tshagataids in Central Asia, the empire of the Ilkhans in Persia and the empire of the Golden Horde in Russia. While those of the Gakhans fell after Kubilai's death and that of the Tshagataids fell quickly also, the other two were preserved until Tamerlane. Tamerlane was a Mongol also, and he is truly the most influental character of Islamic Persian history. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't admire the wonders of cities such as Samarqand, Bokhara, Khiva... Furthermore, his descendants, the Moguls/Mughals ruled over India for more than three centuries.
By far, the Mongols were more important than, for example, the Vikings.

It would be more accurate to describe this civ as Turco-Mongol.
Anyway...I too think it's a great omission...the exclusion of both (Ottoman) Turcs and Mongols makes it even worse.

Europe is a better market for PC games, at least that is a reason I can think of.

Yes, that would be quite uncharacteristic of our favorite redhead.

Me too. Maybe it was to prevent myself from seeing my butt being kicked by them in the Annual Income category of the Demographics...
